  1. My wife and I and our son, who was studying in Buenos Aires at the time, spent a couple of weeks in Patagonia as part of a 6 week trip in Argentina in 2010 and Patagonia was spectacular. We particularly loved hiking in Fitz Roy Mountain Range in El Chaltén and in the Torres del Paine National Park. The hike up to the three Towers of Paine was amazing. Enjoy Glenn!
  2. Beautiful model and display with lots of interesting details. This is a great example of how that a "less complicated" model can be enhanced and made into a wonderful model and display. Really well done, Andrew!
  3. I'm really enjoying your build log, Jean-Paul. It brings back a lot of memories of my Batelina build. The photos you posted today reminded me about a problem that I had with installing the thwart. With the top gallant rails and the vertical planks that line them already in place, it makes it quite difficult to add the two pieces that will support each end of the thwart underneath the top gallant rails. It took me quite a bit of time and finger gymnastics to get each support piece glued correctly onto the interior of the hull so that the thwart sits level because you are working rather blindly underneath the top gallant rails and there isn't much rooms for your fingers. I finally managed to do it but it took me a bunch of tries to get it right. Now that I'm thinking about it again, I think that it would have been better if the instructions would have me install the thwart supports and the thwart before the top gallant rails were added. The rails wouldn't get in the way of your fingers and you could see what you are doing instead of working blindly underneath the rails. Sorry I didn't think about mentioning this before. However, this may just have been a problem for me and you might not have any trouble with it at all.
  4. This is such a beautiful sailboat! The fittings provided are impressive too. This seems to be a high quality model kit.
  5. Nice job carving the stern filler blocks, Fuji. The complex curves on those blocks look like they would be challenging to carve in addition to getting them perfectly symmetrical as well.
  6. It's a beautiful city and, if you have any time to explore the area, there are some wonderful hikes in the mountains and along the coastline in the area. By the way, I edited my original post because I meant to "I wish you red skies at night, sailor's delight," not "red skies in the morning" which is sailor's "take warning!" I think my brain is showing it's age!
  7. Fantastic model, Derek, and a truly outstanding build log! I hope you have red skies at night (sailor's delight!) and smooth seas on your Arctic adventure. I'd love to go there as well. I've walked among the penguins on a small island off the coast of Ushuaia but that's as far south as I've ever been. You might be inspired to build Shackleton's Endurance when you return!
