    In that photo of the Shamrock in the dry dock, it looks like the hull is a super high gloss, mirror like finish. I guess that these racing sailboats would want that so there would be the least amount of friction possible.

    Congratulations, Chris, on your 56th and for all of your amazing success with your Vanguard models. I've got 20 years on you and, when I look back to 20 years ago, I can't believe has fast those years flew by. The laws of physics get turned upside down around age 60 and time actually speeds up! Can't wait to see the American privateer you are working on. Any projected date for when it may hit the market? The suspense is building by the day!

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
