  1. So sorry to hear about the sudden passing of your mother, George. Losing your mom is always tough. My mother lived until she was 98 but she slipped into dementia and a long, slow decline during her final years and that was very hard to see. My condolences to you and your family.
  2. The light bulb went on for me when Egilman said the half round felt pad was used as a hand tool. I kept trying to see a half round pad rotating on a Dremel tool and wondering how in the heck you could use that to polish those metal parts! Maybe I'm only half as dense as I thought I was!
  3. Well, not really, Grant. I think I must be getting dense in my advancing age!!
  4. The level of detail and perfection in your work is as good as it gets. It's quite simply masterful.
  5. Fantastic detailing, Grant, and a excellent explanation of how to prepare white metal and resin castings! Why was it better to cut the felt buffing wheel in half? Can you post a photo of it?
  6. I rather like those bulwark ladders. I think they add some interesting additional detail to the deck.
  7. I'm glad to see you are making progress on this interesting build and I think your planking looks great. Do you ever receive a response from Ancre about the errors that you have found in their plans?
  8. Your Medway is coming along nicely, Bob, and your workspace looks good too. I have a very similar workspace in the spare bedroom with a small desk in front of a window that looks out onto the backyard. I envy those folks who have large work areas and room for all their tools and machines.
  9. I'm enjoying following your build log. I think this is a very beautiful model and I've always thought it might be a good model for a first scratch build. I'm sorry to see that you are finding errors in the plans though but it looks like you are doing a great job at overcoming them as you go along. Good luck on your build!
  10. I hope you heal up quickly, Grant. You might need to stick to something far less dangerous like making rip cuts on your table saw than slicing vegetables in the kitchen!
  11. You can often find the original Midwest Products model kits on eBay. The Indian Canoe and the Peterborough Canoe are often for sale. The Bear Mountain Boat Shop also makes what looks like a very nice 1:12 canoe model: https://www.bearmountainboats.com/products/scale-model-canoe
  12. Very nice work, Bryan, and an excellent build log as well. I look forward to following your progress.
  13. I just happened to come across your build log, Bill, and your Yankee Hero is absolutely beautiful! Really well done!
  14. I like to be of help, Glenn, but fairing the bulkheads or frames one of the ship modeling tasks that I am the most uncertain about. I've done the same thing in same areas that you are showing in your photos. I find the forward 3 or so bulkheads to be the most difficult to get right even when I'm checking often with a batten. I seem to always end up with a gap as well and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'll be interested to see how you proceed. Good luck!
