F-100C Super Sabre by CDW - Trumpeter - 1:48 scale

Head movements like that could induce vertigo and or tumble those tiny gyros in our ears. The Sky Blazers was based at Bitburg and were the USAFE (Air Forces Europe) version of the TBirds. -

I don't know, but I do know a fellow who crewed D models in Viet Nam. I'll ask him Thursday when I see him at work. My semi-uneducated guess is it's the heat effects on those sections, since that's where the afterburner/reheat sits. The F-4 had that area sheathed with titanium. Don't know if the Hun used any Ti in the aircraft skin. -

You've definitely turned that sow's ear into a silk purse, Craig. The finish is outstanding. 👍 -

Looking very good, Craig. The tonal variations of the panels worked out very well. And the decals really are stand out. 👍 -

Your gloss red paint turned out well. And no, you don't need a clear gloss over it to decal. -

Neat looking kit. Have fun with the RC. 😁 -
Wefalck is correct about not modeling the sleepers/ties, since they are unseen. if railcars are rolled out onto a pier, I'd expect a series of pilings under the dock where the rails run. Pictures of the railroad docks in the New York harbor area clearly shows this, especially in more recent years with the wholesale abandonment of the rail marine facilities.. There is a comprehensive website where you can climb into the proverbial rabbit hole. http://members.trainweb.com/bedt/IndustrialLocos.html

Ah, the magnificent "HMS Hood". John, an excellent source of information is here at: http://www.hmshood.org.uk/ It has extensive modeling info.

I think I get what you're saying. You need to leave a flange-way for the wheel flanges. You may have to fiddle with the thickness of the boards to permit cars to roll out onto your dock. You really only need to fill that in if you're planning to drive vehicles onto your dock. I'd put some kind of wheel stop on the end of each rail, too.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
