  1. Well, you could use an Omega, like I did when I flew. 😁
  2. US camouflage markings are the Ghost Gray stars on the far right. The color markings are for uncamouflaged aircraft, like trainers and some transports. Although, they appear out of register. The red stripe should be centered in the white bar.
  3. The Japanese radars were very primitive, so reductions to angles on surfaces were an esoteric concern. Stealth wasn't yet a concept for surface vessels. Your details are coming along nicely.
  4. I'm with Lou here. These kits were developed how many years ago? Ask Denis (Popeye) about the fit of "box scale" kits. The oldies are quite primitive compared to the current goodies. I'm sure some of you remember the Hawk kits with the molded om markings? 🙄 It would be nice if a manufacturer decided on a different model, instead of being the 4th version of USS Arizona or KM Bismarck. Most research of models into the 80s was deciphering markings and paint colors. We live in a Golden Age of scale modeling.
  5. Chris, I'm in too. Using a Shapeways hull will help a ton for the hull shape. Very nice.
  6. Kevin, I'm in too. Just remember Nihil illigitimus carborundum. Don't let the Bas****ds grind you down. This is another opportunity for excellence.
  7. Aw, shucks, Kevin. Sorry for you. But your Admiral is a gem without flaws. Good luck with this new build.
  8. BikerMart, nice layout. Looks good. You may want to try operations. Find a club nearby where you can see things live. And participate. We get fellas in our club who say "I'll just watch" (afraid they might break something?) I tell them to get involved. We can pair the newbie with an old head operator. I have fun at the various ops sessions. You need to dirty up your structures and plant weeds and trees. Its very pristine as it stands.
  9. You can brush it on top of already placed decals. If the decals are still silvery, you can reapply and touch a pin tip into the decal to get the solution under the decal.
  10. It's starts out looking hapzard, but once you've glued and painted the various sections, it looks good. Keep on truckin' 😁
  11. Denis, I saw this this morning in my AF news and immediately thought of your ongoing project with KG200. They made a movie: https://www.military.com/off-duty/movies/2022/01/12/wolf-hound-wwii-movie-inspired-secret-nazi-air-combat-unit.html Could be interesting.
  12. Oy, tough decision. Can you cobble up a fixture to do the vee parts of the boom with the thicker rod, since they look symmetrical. Thicker only because of the strength needed. Then another jig holding the vee sections vertical, so you can attach the top parts. If it was brass rod, I'd go thinner, but my soldering skills are better employed doing electrical work. 😉 In prior endeavors, years back, I attempted a corrugated engine house and a car kit. Kept unsoldering prior work. Thank the stars for CA.😁
  13. very nice work with the painting, decaling and pin striping. Avery makes a lot of office supplies, one line of which is stick-on mailing labels. A reliable product line.
