Hi elijah, I dont understand the part you mean. Earlier posts show the deck as one part, including the waterways. What exactly is missing? Jan

Or something Dutch: pacific cross roads has a HmS Tromp (cruiser) in 1:350. Should be a nice one. (Although, it is new, sothere won't be any after,arket...) Jan

The figures look very nice indeed. Lots of panting though... Do you have all the framing now, or are you still missing parts? Jan

How durable is that ezyline? it would be a real shame if the elastic material either slackens or even crumbles in a few years..... Jan

perhaps you shouldn't have used the iron: it clearly states that it is not suited for heller stuff Jan

That's how the ceiling of my bathroom looks: too much paint on a day that was too hot for painting ceilings.... But you'll get it sorted, don't you? Jan

Looks good so far! I dohave some problems in understanding the bow structure, as the parts seem not to line up on the outside. But I'm sure time will reveal Jan

I can imagine. Even a relatively small 155 howitzer gives some showckwave, and isn't too good for your ears.... And a double 12" gun is slightly larger Jan

whats an easier build for a first kit
amateur replied to rdestefano01's topic in Wood ship model kits
They both do not look like "entrance level" to me...... Jan -
Hi Mindi, Welcome back. It is as you suspected: something died (not the forum, but the servers where it was hosted). Everthing that was on the servers was lost. So, it is still the good old MSW (same people, better quality every day), but you'll have to restart, as your previous log is gone into nothing.... Nice work onyour endeavour. Well worth the restart (of your building, and your posting activities) Jan

There is a third way of doing your ships boat. I used it for my boat. It used to be in the buildlog of Chuck Pasarro (Mayflower I think it was). You can use a bread and butter way of building the hull, which you can then detail with planing on the outside, and frames on the inside. I think i made a couple of pics of how I did it (quite early in my pW -log. But then, as you do shipyards at scale 1:20000, i gues a fully frames boat is no problemto you Jan

Hi Piet, Your diorama has become a very nicepice of art. I'm impressed by the level of detail you put into it! Jan Ps. No excuses left, you'll have to start rigging your VOC-ship

Hi Marcus, I shouldn't have used the word 'sail...' It was just the ferry (which gave me the opportunity to have a look at all surrounding ships) big and a bit noisy when you sleep on the lower deck Jan

Hi Kees, Take care of yourself! btw: We sailed from IJmuiden to Newcastle last week, and I spotted Pelikaan in the buitenhaven of IJmuiden. She almost looked like your model (only more dirt and rust, and way oversized ) With respect to the hull colour: even in life size, the colour is changing with the sunlight. Difficult to describe, and I think that even with the colour-code right, it will not look like the real thing.... Jan

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
