  1. Pete and Harvey I watched the model Volvo video a few times and also went to the model site and found this. I gather from the text that the wind itself unfurls the genaker, the servo only pulls it in, which is why it unfurls so fast. very interesting thinking. and the model hardware is superbly made, by the looks of it. Michael
  2. Pete I can think of a few ways the roller reefing works they all seem a bit iffy though. 1 the jib-stay is pre twisted essentially a vertical spring and so the unfurling just requires a pull from a servo. 2 the jib-stay is geared with helical gearing through the bowsprit 3 miniature chain or ribbed belt drive (think printer belt) through the bowsprit. I was hoping this model would give some info Michael
  3. What a fun series this is, they would be great as a class of 1.5metre models, all racing RC. Michael
  4. Very interesting, the question I have is why you changed the shape of the cabin? Michael
  5. Nils great work as usual, your simple method of making square section from round tube is brilliant, I wish I had thought of that. Michael
  6. Looks great Pete. looking forward to seeing the paint on it. Michael
  7. Moving along nicely Lextin, The cut out certainly gives one a perspective of the size of theses ships. Michael
  8. Great Speed on your progress Pete, I'm beginning to feel like a snail in the model making world. Michael
  9. John what a great looking skeleton the frames define the shape beautifully. michael
  10. I wonder how these boats would look without all the fractured advertizing all over them, just simple colours to accent their shapes and high tech materials. I think they would look far superior. but that is just me. On the other hand imagine a 1930's J class yacht covered in "Pears Soaps", "Colemans", "Indian Motorcycles" or "Liptons" Somehow I just can't picture it! Michael
  11. Maury, I like the way you are using the tweezers as a fine clamp, I shall have to remember that one. Michael
  12. Nice work with the bamboo Dave, I agree with using the true waterline. Michael
  13. Looks interesting I will watch, Nice start. Michael
  14. I would never have been able to tell that you reworked the bow grating Doris, a great testament to your skill and attention to detail is evident in the final result. michael
  15. Mark your precision and clean work are a joy to follow, those long reach clamps must be wonderful to work with. Michael
  16. Good to hear the operation went well Walter, when you do get back to the shipyard well be there cheering you on. Michael
  17. 3/4 inch to the foot, you are getting closer to my territory now....that's better I look forward to the Aleron, she will make a beautiful model. Michael
  18. Doris it is great to see that you are back working on your magnificent model your work is truly inspirational. Michael
  19. Just read through the entire build, very nice work in less than ideal workshop conditions, I would not be able to work on the floor with such small parts. I would think a small folding table would be a good addition to the shop. Michael
  20. Leroy, thanks for posting your information about the new clear product, there are certainly times when a good Hacker-craft gloss coat is needed, I somehow cannot imagine one of the mahogany Chris Craft, or Hacker-Craft launches with a satin finish. Michael
