Upside down and a fine jet from an airbrush or fine nozzle on an airline with the pressure just above atmospheric, should do the trick. Michael

Chris I am sure that given your great skill you will be able to find a way to drill the keel and add bolts to enable you to mount her on the brass pedestals. Michael

Couldn't agree more. Model is looking good Nenad, I prefer the toned down colour to a shiny copper bottom. Michael- 4,152 replies

Alex this is an outstanding example of the sort of care and nurturing that we are capable of. I am sure that your carer Antony will also learn a great deal from you as you work together on this wonderful project. I have no doubt that you will continue on as you gain skills and become an accomplished shipbuilder. I will enjoy following your progress. regards Michael

Harvey these boats are really exciting machines they are definitely pushing the envelope. The interesting thing about hull design is that it seem to me that big changes occur because a designer does a what if, and suddenly the old rules dissolve, and the imposable becomes the new norm. the plan veiw of the drawing that Pete posted is a rectangle with one end drawn down to a rounded point, I did this by a simple tracing over the drawing and it is 1.5m long full size, yes I'm tempted to draw more 59 inch model plan.pdf Didn't mean to hijack your thread Pete sorry. Hans I have to disagree with you on this one, look at the link to the PDF that explains how the furler works for the Genaker, it is not an endless line. To be clear I am talking about the model and not a full size boat. I have no knowledge of full size furlers. Michael

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
