This info is more than 10years old. It was released when they were still developing the Nelsons Navy series. The strange thing is that they didnt remove it when the production stopped. We will see if these projects are still valid. They started to develop the HMS Surprise after the Master and commander movie. At that time it could had become a very popular kit, but maybe it is different now.
Yup, that's been on there for many years. It's been so long that I wouldn't be surprised if there were never any new Nelson's Navy kits.
Doesn't matter though, we now have Vanguard Models (Chris Watton) putting out great new kits.

Thanks Michael and Jim. At 1:24 scale, this model allows you to add a lot of detail. On the down side, mistakes will be harder to hide. Chuck and Mike (Stuntflyer) have set the bar high with their quality work and I am sure Rusty will be building one. I am no where close to their skills but will do the best that I can. I am looking forward to this build.
I don't know if you're just being modest, but I like to see mere mortals working on kits too. I'll never achieve the results of modeling gods like Chuck, but enjoy it nonetheless.

It's basically done. There are a couple more things I can do to it, but I may or may not. I'm calling it done. I have the MASTER KORABEL BRIGANTINE PHOENIX on the way from Model Expo, should be here next week. I may try to shoot for more patience and higher quality work on that one. We'll see how that goes.
Here are the final pictures to wrap up this build log. Thanks for following along.

I have been working, but it has been slow going and I've made changes with paint that I wasn't happy with. On the box the top color is a light blue, I don't really like that so I went with a darker blue color. That ended up looking really bad, so I painted over it with some yellow ochre that I had left over from my Lady Nelson.
I had mentioned the possibility of doing a second planking with the boxwood that I ordered from Model Expo. The wood that I received didn't look like what I was expecting and I'd rather have an incorrect planking line than the yellow planks. I did however use some of that wood to plank the decks. I saw in another thread how the laser etched deck sheets bubbled up on another Dusek kit, so I decided to just plank it with the wood I got from Model Expo.
I'm a little heavy handed and have had to repair the bulwarks several times where they are above deck level, they are easy to break if you aren't careful. The next thing I have to do is the bulwarks framing pieces and then start on the deck fixtures.
It is far from perfect, but I'm happy with it.

Here's the reply I got:
QuoteOur owner Marc advises that Boxwood is yellow. It is supplied to us by a very reputable 50 yr. old firm. Boxwood is a scarce wood and has a variety of colors from pale to dense yellow. All boxwood in our inventory has a similar appearance. There may be some confusion between boxwood and basswood, which is light in color. If you believe the boxwood in your order is not suitable for your purposes, please contact John Garcia to inquire about a return. Not worth putting any effort into a return, so maybe I'll find a use for it sometime. If I need to order wood in the future it will be from Chuck.

John said he would forward the email to parts. I gave them the weekend and Monday and Tuesday with no reply, so I sent an email to parts just now. We'll see if they respond. They may be busy with the sales they've had going on, but it certainly doesn't seem like excellent customer service at the moment.

I'm going to send an email with a picture and question Model Expo as to it not being boxwood. We'll see how that goes.
Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate it.

That is a 1mm x 4mm plank, so it's pretty zoomed in. But it certainly is a little fuzzy on the sides. I was expecting it to be really clean with sharp edges and more of a white/cream color.
