  1. "What do you know after reading and writing all those books?" asked someone to a wise man. He answered: "I know my limitation." You are still regard yourself very much in the amateur league... As much as you evolve, you become more humble. Excellent work!...
  2. Hi Michael, I expect and believe (it depends on your choice only) that we'll find and follow your next build in scratch build log...
  3. Your kindness Hamilton, I have one work Berlin, left on the shelf and a hope Hamburg, living in fantasy :-( A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush but your hands... Beautiful birds on every finger... I will wait impatiently for your Berlin for great inspiration...
  4. Hi Hamilton, Another fine work after MS Sultana; Corel Brittany Sloop; MS Kate Cory; MS Armed Virginia Sloop; Corel Flattie; Mamoli Gretel; Amati Bluenose; AL San Francisco; Corel Toulonnaise; MS Glad Tidings; HMS Blandford from Corel HMS Greyhound; Fair Rosamund (1832) from OcCre Dos Amigos; Amati Hannah (ship in a bottle)... You are a factory... :-)
  5. I have to say I esteem you and your skill Johann... Astonishing... My only consolation is it can be a probability of an imperfection via electron microscope, maybe...
  6. It's astonishing how she is so clean, so shaped, so stunning... What a skill you have!...
  7. Hi Michael, Great work again... And so complicated and chaotic in a too small area... Wood, rope and metal work. Well done as usual... And the case about pictures... As if you had finished the complete ship and now you are trying to dismantle piece by piece so that even you reach to the initial Corel box... The pics of dismantling...
  8. Nigel, You are one of the builders who keeps my interest going on this hobby... Always clean, harmonic, showing the difficulty so easy to overcome...
  9. I think by not knowing that it's not necessary to drill holes on the ship. With right angles given to figurines it should be compact to stabilize the ship on them. She will be at the end in a safe place in the house. She will be marvelous...
  10. Hi Michael, It have to be said really very clean and victorious work about Winged Pegasus. IMO the two figurines in the upper picture are being seen a little more detailed especially on the feathers of the wings, on the scales of the tails and on the manes; more 3-D because of the old / used / some blackened aspect. About your choice, I think it depends on the harmony of the Pegasus in the second picture with the general entire view of the ship with all other detailed painted figurines. Do you think to add some colors to them?
  11. Hi Michael, In my opinion, scribing a line on the same dowel; in other words same continuous color, same continuous wood texture, same continuous grain, would not give a perfect appearance, an image of a dowel been made of two different pieces of wood. It would be just a stripe on a dowel. It's not for me to say but I favor your current attempt. :-) If the result was not satisfying, Michael who I know, would realize what he wants after one or two attempts... :-)
  12. Thank for your support Buck. After reading your post I went to look at my new humble workshop. She is waiting for me patiently with the top main mast broken during the storm while moving house. :-)
  13. Buck, Fine work again. What called my attention on the tub is that the bottom of the staves was not been sanded as far as to get a continuous flat surface with its circular base, leaving a small level difference (I don't know if I could explain correctly). :-) Although the base will not be seen on the whaleboat, you didn't take the easy way out. I respect your fitting manner.
  14. Michael, Just another glorious work... Four sheaves with the fourth one more larger on the starboard... Glorious replica... Actually I was not surprised by the result. Coming events cast their shadows before... :-)
  15. What I see on the real Wasa the fourth one is more larger then the three others. Thank you Popeye2sea for the knowledge
  16. Michael, My opinion is that if there is not any big error it's not necessary to go back to rebuild the parts. All kit build ships are not perfect replicas one way or another. So there can be endless small negligible faults. And my fault was to go on with my perfectionism. Now I feel some tired in front of Berlin. When I begun to build her I was thinking that she was a perfect replica. Before MSW I had apparently been greenhorn, young to believe in that. And IMO if I want to build a model ship from a kit with pleasure I should not see some errors. Your corrections are perfect but there will be always some imperfect items. The knighthead with 3 sheaves is enough, just perfect besides. In my previous post I wanted to say just that. Your skill is high degree but the perfectionism is always one step ahead. It's not good to feel tired like me but I will find my hope there where I left it. :-)
  17. "I just did not have the skills to cut a fourth (correct) sheave within the block of that size." Eventhough I don't believe in the content of this sentence, the knighthead is very nice with three sheaves... and eventhough I like your struggle to do the best, my phrase was just for having to hand it to you...
  18. Wonderful is the final, Michael... Really incomparable with the previous enterprises...
