  1. And a long sea creature slithering along the bottom of the bottle.. This build is gonna be way cool, Glen. I'm all setup here on the front row ready to follow along.
  2. Gizmo, welcome to MSW. Glad to have you aboard.
  3. Nicely done, Kortes. I'd go with raw brass. I don't remember seeing iron skylight grilles.
  4. Poor little penguin but guess what, that skier's next! Cool project, Glen.
  5. Mike, will the mystery object slide over the tiller? The only thing I can even speculate is that it's a rudder limiter. It's a weird one that's for sure.
  6. DeHammer, welcome to MSW. Glad to have you aboard.
  7. The carpenters and painters did a fantastic job, Siggi. I think an extra ration of rum for the lot is in order. .
  8. Seven pixels wide and three pixels at the ends, that just blows my mind. My fat fingers would have that hull squashed almost instantly. I take a bow to your ability, Eberhard.
  9. Monsieur Haricot, welcome to MSW. I hope your first project is a total success.
  10. Beautiful ship's wheel, Bitao, They're not easy to make, very well done.
  11. Another great photo, MCB. Why/how is the inside of that stack so clean? The barges in the background would make a good secondary subject.
  12. How fortunate we are to be able to be watch Valeriy's masterpiece come to life.
  13. Gary, I check on it about every three hours. Glen, the only thing I've ever seen are brass plaques, never a builders plate and I'm not sure there was such a thing for a ship? Maybe Roger knows? I have no idea why you would think I would suggest making a builder's plate for your SIB Roger, I'm keeping a close eye on it but I don't want to reach out to the seller just yet. I'll give it another four or five days and then I'll message him and try to start a dialog. I've got some trade items that hopefully we might be able to come to agreement on.
  14. Gary, I don't know? Considering market expectations the Madawaska piece it isn't really that far out of line. The below eBay link being a prime example. I know that it's for a total locomotive and not just a part of one but still......... If you search eBay for "builders plate" locomotive or ship you get some eye watering prices. Maybe I'm just a dinosaur out of touch with today's world. https://www.ebay.com/itm/232924686557?hash=item363b64a8dd:g:x1oAAOSwGVJba4fP&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8CLdGfZQPQ7CNPs7qiVQsorLtBuvDJSI9TFNv2IJ5srA3a22ePWm4yj2hoqSkrf1DgZZ8TtCuCMfHh2SHEJ%2Bn2GVnIAoScXqZOkpRG%2B0cnIFi4AVNt9rnFo910RqXTuv6adS1ySNsCalMR7iQjycjiW3Dmp89o4x%2F9mBCmBqHawlYsPJLvV6Yu9NT6dMHC%2F57J6wwSZygNqIWJHnahy%2BOAmMQ9t%2Fj3WiXILKbl3UCXlEACrhpc2hJasQQSwgXAzI6pOjyhe4njKzcVaBzcTHIb02O8S6oyc%2Bo%2BLgV66qeWDND8o3yt5o4lQHlQF5V3jBvg%3D%3D|tkp%3ABFBM1rL1paNg A little more reasonable whatever reasonable is. https://www.ebay.com/itm/143618948360?hash=item21705b3d08:g:wocAAOSwazte0uyl
  15. Heading for home on this one, Dave. Very well done for your first build.
  16. This is supposedly a 1863 photo of the USS Vermont. It doesn't't look like any models of the Vermont so who knows. What's interesting is the lack of gun tracks for those heavy monsters. I think it's just an interesting photo of a ship from that time period.
  17. Glen, it's off a forty gallon tank of some sort and could have been anyplace on the ship. Hot water tank, fresh water tank for cooking, drinking or a holding tank for the galley, offices wash rooms. whoever was making up these tags/plates must have made up about a quarter of a million dollars worth of em for all the tanks onboard.
  18. I think these are neat but it's not my time period even so, I'm tempted. But I'd rather someone with interest in that time period become the new caretaker. https://www.ebay.com/itm/125331484659?hash=item1d2e56aff3:g:vVsAAOSw65VijkwQ Please be aware that the price is for one only and not all eight.
  19. What an unbelievable piece this would be to add to the Tennessee. Unfortunately the asking price is too steep but golly it's way cool. https://www.ebay.com/itm/275321765340?hash=item401a74bddc:g:3VYAAOSwTZFiirdd
  20. Scott, welcome to MSW. Be glad it's just two kids, if it were three not only would you not have time for sleep but you wouldn't have time to build models. Glad to have you aboard.
  21. Mike, it could have been rigged with just a boson's chair. I personally don't like the looks of ratlines as they disturb/break the flowing vertical lines of mast and shrouds.
