  1. Sad to hear all this OC. Jack and Kevin are right. Your best bet is if you had dealt through PayPal. They are pretty straight forward and relatively easy to work with. Your C card may not be so easy. They almost always will cover it but sometimes the way they do it is to cancil the old card and issue you a new one! While you are waiting for the new card you will of course be without a card. Not really something to look forward to at this time of year. That is what happened to my wife while on one of her trips a few weeks ago! The card she uses for all her trips had an issue and we had to shut it down. As she was not carrying any of our other cards, (We only use the one, and then only on her trips) she didn't really have a convenient way to buy stuff for the remainder of her trip! We ended up getting her a prepaid card to use for a couple of weeks! I would advise you to just quit trying to deal with the company you bought from. At this point you will either get your battery or you won't. Just deal with your C Card company and chalk the whole thing up as another day. That is pretty much what the C card companies do. This happens to them EVERY day. They just write it off as a cost of doing business.
  2. I know you guys are in touch. It's a group build afterall. I was just giving you a bad time by relating to his broadside that he posted last night our time.
  3. WOW That should keep you off the streets and out of trouble for a while Ken! Happy Day! (BTW Greg is jealous)
  4. This may help a little. He seems to mostly follow Carl's technique. The Glue seems to give plenty of time and strength. https://youtu.be/dSNKh3rFTSA
  5. These are available as well: http://www.radubstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=77_122&products_id=434 I have never used them personally but they have some reviews at the bottom of the page.
  6. You could give these a try: https://northstarmodels.com/product-category/figures/1-350/ Or possibly these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tamiya-12622-1-350-Crew-Set-144-pcs-from-Japan-FedEx-Ship-FedEx-Ship-/223140966185?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10#viTabs_0 Should more than meet the need to feed your masochistic streak!
  7. So where are the gun crew Carl? CAn't have a gun without a crew to run it! Really they are looking pretty nice, almost a shame to have to paint them.
  8. I think those doors are going to look much better than the kit doors and when they are painted will look just fine.
  9. Since I don't have weekends anymore you just described a normal day for me. Kids, chores, duties, errands, and bed!
  10. What are you trying to do Denis? Break me? I already spent a bunch of money on him when he graduated from medical school, (That I also helped pay for) by getting him a LEGO Millenium Falcon that was out of production. I forgot how much that cost but it was A LOT! Now the Dark Tower and in a couple of years the new Dark Tower! We got this thing all backwards. HE should be getting ME some kind of super expensive toy that I can't justify spending money on for myself! So now that you are done with the stairway what's next?
  11. The game was "Dark tower" by Milton Bradly and the darn things are EXPENSIVE! I personally would not want one or pay as much as they want as I always thought the game was kind of stupid. But then I have been known to pay even more for a model I wanted. To each his own I suppose. I NEVER get into bidding wars. I seldom even bid on an item before the last 10 seconds. Mostly more like 5 seconds. Then I bid the max that I am willing to pay. That way #1 people do not normally have time to respond to my bid and #2, if someone outbids me I at least made them pay more than I was willing to pay for whatever it was! That bottle of Artillery Olive is possibly older than you are!
  12. Moving right along. It's going to be interesting to see it all come together.
  13. I think I would have to sub ash from my fire pit in the backyard as I don't smoke. interesting solution though.
  14. Glad it worked for you. I think you will find that they have all kinds of uses as both parts source and tools.
  15. Thanks semore I think that makes it clear enough that even a dummy like me can do it with some practice. Looks like I'm not done spending yet! The only problem I have with the film is not with the technique but with the hull weathering. I think that class of fast attack boats have fiberglass hulls and there is no way they would be rusted! But then it is a modern day ship so I could be wrong and opened my fat mouth again. Thanks for the video it really is helpful along with all the other input above on the subject.
  16. Hi Denis At last the stairs are in. Great job. I have to laugh though at one part. With almost 300 paints I sent you and thinking that the half that I had dragged up from my basement was not going to be worth anything, the first two colors were not from the paints that were brand new ones from the guy, but from my old paints! As for the New Jersey. When he pulled it out of the back of his car to set it aside so he could get to the stuff that I wanted to look at, it just sat there and I could see a big flag waving over it that had DENIS written all over it so I added it to the take home stack. I'm glad that #1 I was right and #2 it made it to you in one piece! I recently bought a old classic board game on eBay for my oldest son's birthday in June, (He is turning the big 50 and is not all that happy about it). I picked out one that not only was complete but had a better than average box top. It is amazing what kind of prices they want for this game even with halfway torn up boxes and broken towers that no longer work! Anyway the box arrived almost open with only two strings of tape still holding it and the outer box looked like the driver ran over it! Part of the instructions were even hanging out! I finished opening it with dread. Sure enough the game box top was split at all four corners and the tower was in three pieces! The seller had listed it as "Pristine" and the pictures for the most part had supported her! Not any more! I made her even madder when I refused to deal with UPS and used eBay to send it back at her expense ( I assume another $100 in postage) But I still will need to start all over looking on eBay for the "right" one!
  17. Hi Jim I'm going to step in here and open my loud mouth even though I'm not Chris. A card model is a model where they print the required patterns of the model onto paper and card and when you cut them out, fold where required and glue together to form the model. In this case not only was the company pattern nicely done making it possible to form a very realistic model but the colors and patterns appear to have been of a higher quality as well. Of course the build was so good that it is almost impossible to tell from a nicely made plastic model until we were told that it was a card model. THAT'S impressive. At least to me. Hope I said that in a way that is understandable.
  18. I am in no way an expert, or even a novice for that matter, but I would think that the ladder would only be used when there was a boat along side like a pilot boat or some such where someone needed to board or disembark while the ship was still free of a dock. In that case it would more than likely just hang straight down from the portal, probably where you have the notch in your bulwark. When the ship was at a dock they would more likely use a gangway that I would think would normally be stowed either somewhere close onboard or at the dock. My only guess on the other thing to the far right would be a fire hose or something secured to a framework on the inside bulkhead.
  19. Thanks Craig and channell I have a couple of builds coming up and I am trying to get psyched up with information to help me get over some of my fears about being able to work with this stuff. I think I have all the required gear. The needed skill may be another matter. I hope not.
  20. Hi Antonio I don't know what is available where you live, but where I live I can get a big package of bamboo skewers at my grocery store for a dollar or so. It is a lifetime supply of small diameter dowling and other uses! The type of wood, (Or in this case, grass) is not all that important as you will be painting it white anyway. I am sure that someone with more knowledge and skill than I have will be along soon with more or better choices. Good luck
  21. For that matter you would have to say that they did at least as well as the early P-40s in the Pacific. No one there had listened to Chenault about his experiences against the Zero with the AVG. but while they didn't rack up much of a kill ratio as far as I know, they held out just as long as the P-40s and Hurricanes. They seemed to at least be a hard bird to kill.
  22. Like I said to one of our other builders the other day Chris. I would call you blind but your work says otherwise. Kind of drew my attention because I am rereading some history books to refresh my mind on some early WWII war details and the Buffalo was almost all the allies had to throw at the advancing Japanese with their Zero!
  23. I agree with Jack. Nice work. Doesn't look stand off scale to me at all!
  24. Based on the results it obviously is NOT the wrong way. Have you used enamel throughout the build or just in applications like this?
