  1. Hopefully the meds will do their job and you won't have to be making any more midnight runs to the emergency room!
  2. Sorry you are having such a hard time getting things like you want them Jack. It is probably too late for this model but you may want to try these paints: http://trucolorpaint.com/ I have no personal experience with them but others are saying that they are very similar to Floquil.
  3. Really nice job on drilling the deadeyes. Have fun on your trip to the Admiral's family, and a merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well.
  4. I wonder how many years it will take to more fully map and explore the wreck? They have some new techniques that they can use to render a 3D printed copy of the wreck that could be priceless to see as a modeler interested in doing the BHR.
  5. It looks like this is a fairly simple large scale model. The only real novelty seems to be that it is plank-on-bulkhead like their lobster boat rather than the normal Bluejacket solid hull kit. You may be breaking new ground for MSW.
  6. If we are talking about the same thing then it will look fine when you add what I assume will be the lines and pulleys that will be needed. So far I haven't seen anything that is a poor representation of anything. Everything that fits that description is here in my house, Including me if you ask my wife!
  7. Looking good Carl, especially the stack wires. A couple of questions though. Did you use the same line on the "H" stacks as you did on the funnels? And is the bent pipe looking thing aft to the rear funnel a vent, or a davit? Looking forward to more progress.
  8. You mean your house is not your museum? Everything in my house, (Including the house at 120 years old) is old and most everything I own personally in it is dusty as well! Kind of matches most museums that I know of. Your work is looking quite nice and i yhink you will find that by he time you are done only you will be able to pick out what you are considering your mistakes right now! Aof course that will be a little way down the road so by then even you may have forgotten about them!
  9. So who's presents are you wrapping? You have been telling us that the Pearl is for the wife. You already spent a bunch of money on yourself for a new battery! Are you sneaking in a few more goodies like a little pirate hooch you aren't telling us about? You take too much of that stuff and you really will be tying yourself in knots!
  10. I always thought that that was what a wedding ring was. An expensive detecting device that tracks your every move. I don't think that was what OC meant Carl I don't think you need to worry OC. I am pretty certain that there are people watching who will be able to pretty much help you through almost anything you need. Plus I suspect that you probably already have most , if not all the skill you will need to get it done.
  11. Not if you put a patch over one of their, (8) eyes. Then they would just be another pirate!
  12. You just need to train your spiders a little better.
  13. Sometimes? I'm pretty much lazy ALL of the time! I am almost certain that somewhere in military usage there is an acronym for acronym!
  14. I would think given the time period that it was possibly a local gun control range finder for either that turret or possibly both of them. If I am looking right these are the stern most turrets. There may be another "antenna" located somewhere forward but not on the turret roof. It could also be a radio direction finder. It will be interesting what someone with real knowledge comes up with! Given the way the two turrets are aimed it looks like it is not working all that well anyway.
  15. Congratulations for a well executed model and the trip down memory lane.
  16. You could do it John Rathbun style! In 1779, he assumed command of the 28 gun frigate Queen Of France and in July cruised off Newfoundland with Providence and Ranger. On the 16th, the ships sighted a convoy bound for Britain. Fog closed in, but when it lifted, Queen of France was next to a merchantman whose crew mistook the American for a British escort vessel. Rathbun took advantage of the situation, exploited the mistake in identity by going over in his ships boat and informing the British captain that he and his vessel were captured! He did this a total of four times and eventually Ranger and Providence not wanting to be left out on the prize money followed suit. eleven ships in total were cut out of the convoy, their total value over 1 million dollars. This was over a time span of three days and within full view of a British Ship-of-the-line and three frigate escort ships! It is pretty obvious that not a shot was fired!
  17. Torpedo boat as in WWII PT boat, or torpedo boat as in turn of the century pre destroyer type of ship?
  18. Did they transport his wives also? I personally don't think I could live with two! I would either have to go to sea or Australia!
  19. "Had to stop to fix Big Bird" Family needs still find their way to the top of the list no matter what. Nice work on the rudders.
  20. Hopefully you will get the battery and all will be good in the end, Carl is right though, list your bank card with PayPal if you have not already, and ALWAYS use it when buying online. If the merchant does not take PayPal then go somewhere else. The scammers don't like having to deal with payPal all that much for some reason. Not quite so true it seems with Amazon.
