Hi Charley, thanks for the kind words. I agree with you on our past hard working ancestors and their innovations. I too can see the masts which is where my delimma comes in.....continue with Davits or work on masts or both.....the answer will probably be both.......I wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year.....

OK, well actually a milestone has been reached today. With the exception of the Davits, cranes, and Boat Slides that will attach to the outside of the hull and a couple of very small details yet to be done, the deck structures/furniture is complete. I'm including quite a few pictures for documentation to show the hull structure complete. I have not decided on the order of adding the Davits and other components yet, and contemplating starting the masts. Geez I hate saying that...... you guys are relentless.....

Yes Augie, there are 7 boats, but since you didn't read my previous posts...I'll repeat them just for you......2 of them are turned upside down on the Shelter Roof so they don't get harpoons.....therefore 5 sets of davits.....for 5 upright boats to be built later....lol.....gotcha!

A small update for today.....a Harpoon. First I turned down a dowel to 1.6 mm then added a lance piece of .8 mm brass rod without the tip at this point. These will be stowed under the Shelter/Boat Bearer roof and the ends can't be seen, so I'm not putting them on these 6 Harpoons. The ones in the boats will have the tips. I hope to finish the Harpoons and racks tomorrow, and possibly the roof for the Shelter.......don't get excited Sjors ..... I said "possibly".....Things get hectic this week with the Holidays so I don't know what I'll get done, except I'm going to try.......so here is one Haroon, photographed next to a dime for scale....

Thanks for all the "likes" guys. Greatly appreciated. Whoaaaaaaa all of you........got a lot to go yet before we get airborne.....Remember I have 5 whaleboats that have to get hung somewhere. So I have davits and boat slides to build and incorporate into the hull structure. I'm not going to do the boats yet, but have to get all this piddly stuff done as well as put the roof on the Shelter/Boat Bearer.......which gets 2 more boats turned upside down and lashed to it.....don't need to detail the inside of them ...thankfully. So calm down it's gonna be a while yet.....

Hello Piet and Popeye, glad you approve. The "blacksmith" hat was enjoyable. The hardest thing about the Resistance Solder Iron, is the ground clip. It is hard to control, and is cumberson. Micro-Mark makes a grounded vice aparatus, but it's $99 - a bit pricey.....can't afford right now....bummer....

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
