  1. How life takes ... rips away time ... last update nearly three weeks ago Yesterday more garden chores ... but today it's raining - or as Mark (MTaylor) says, time for the workshop - and I pulled out the airbrush again. Nothing fancy, just trying my hand on shading, but my finger was somewhat trigger happy from time to time The single and tripple AA have a black primer, they'll get first a coat of medium grey, and some light highlights - see how that will work out. And a bit of a model on the side ... (started a log here)
  2. Patrick, That is an impressive, futuristic project you are up to ... any plans available, more images? Look forward to that one mate, almost can't wait for Shadow to be finished!!! Cheers
  3. Interesting method to make and raise a tarp. Will certainly be fun to work on, no fiddly bits to loose. I see you are quite strong and know your way wiuth a drill, that will certainly come in handy!!! Eric isn't the only one whom envies you ... so do I
  4. Thought you wouldn't be able to get clean clothes whilst you had all those laundry pegs in use Daria. Interesting concept the pins to align the bulwark. I'm glad your father finally gave you some propper clamps for your toolbox Your progress is looking good. You should keep in mind that the faster you build, the easier it is to make a mistake. Keep it up Cheers
  5. Nearing the end of the build ...? Oh no, you still have kitchenware to make!!!
  6. Canadian Tire store in or near The Hague ... interesting. If you find one Robin, let me know, I'll come by and meet you for a drink
  7. "the letters are not very high quality" You could use a very thin Rotring pen to trace the outside or accentuate it with shadow dots ... Lovely lights
  8. Jesse, I love those tops, they look real good, hope mine will look that way if I ever get to them ...
  9. I would say, a lift for airplane armament and fuel ... I cannot imagine being filled up and fitted within the ship
  10. Quite so Mark. I had a problem getting the solder at the right spot, and solder paste you can put at the right spot before you apply the torch. In your case I could do both joins at the same time, since you heat the parts anyway. When you use the solder wire, you should heat the join from one side and apply the solder from the other. It should flow into the join, but I often burned more of the solder with those kind of joins than had it flow in the join, hence the paste, altough it looks more like a rather grainy liquid. Cheers P.s. Love the build, have been following for a long time
  11. Well done OC. Hope your fingers didn't get glued to eachother, a bit awkward when dealing with PE ... I tend to use dirty glasses (fingerprints e.a.) when I fouled up ... makes it look even better ...
  12. Nothing to salvage? Not even the plastic parts ... It would be a shame, though, but if you can't , you can't. I sometimes have to make parts (PE a.o.) a new after the original took a jump ... possible in your case? Take care
  13. So don't pretend to be ready I won't change my post mate. You're still mighty fast, and even if it isn't ready yet, it already is magnificent ... By the way "I’ve got a shed load on this to go yet." sounds smelly ...
  14. I wonder how it would be on the real life size model. Those forces would be enormous compared to what you are dealing with ...
  15. Another magnificent build ... and on top in such a short time! I almost need a breather before you start on the next one ...
  16. Mark, Do you use solid silver solder? I had some good results with silver soldering paste, even with very thin materials which would burn if I used the solid solder wire
  17. "good preparation for the 20+ yards and booms that lie ahead" As if you need it ...
  18. John, As Nils wrote a barbary pirate vessel, but the king of France had one, mebby more (ANCRE has the drawings), it was used in Spain, Italy amongst others. You might generalise it to be a Mediterranian vessel Cheers
  19. "set the TV aerial up... " At least you can watch "The Man in the Yellow Hat" during a lull in the fight ... Great work on the mini flight deck, although, I wouldn't have expected a railing on it. On the other hand the crew, sizewise, would easily be blown off. You've got yourself a very nice base board too. Hope it fits in your collection, if not you may always send it over. Didn't know you could phase out ... but what will you phase in to after this one ... Marvelous work again Greg!!
  20. "by most accounts not very well. If you mean as a profession - no" In either case: A pitty! Pensilvania is no go if ever I come to the States ... what a pitty ... it'll be the old fashioned way ... books!
