Take care Denis, you shouldn't neglect things like these at our age. Get well soon, and do some shipmodelling to pass the time

As Greg wrote Death Star, that Mark IV will certainly make it easier! Such a pitty, all those planks ruined, whole forests ripped asunder for naught. You need a hand demolishing? Enough pulling at legs ... you did make the right decision, I know you don't make these lightly. It will certainly work out to your advantage, a real French deck. Cheers

I wouldn't worry to much about those straight lines, a steady hand comes with time. You need to keep on practising though. Once I could draw a straight line a meter long, when I was at the Academy of Arts, but nowadays, I'm glad if I can manage 20 cm

Thanks for all the likes and comments gents Hello Nigel, The eyes are holding out. I got a visor which helps against cross sightedness, and headaches so far ... I'll be using airbrush primer and paint. Since you put on multiple thin layers, the detail should be preserved. You should take a look at the last work Greg Lester did on his Yamato here on the formum. Exquisite paint work. Thanks for stopping by Cheers

Your painting makes it look very realistic. I like the way your railings turned out with the easy line. Might be even easier than the brass ones, considering the hardships those gave and give me. At least the look a lot better! As far I can see your kit has a lot more detail to the plastic to start with, which is a nice plus, a terrific job

You might win a few games at that scale I'll be in for some stupid moves! I'm glad I tie my jaw shut before I have a look at your build logs. You are really pulling all the plugs, Igor. Increadible. It is magnificent to see the result of your labour. I especially like the "underwater" shot. A great result.

OC, I thought a juwellers would be better, more attention, at Harrods it would just be another plastic kit

Thanks, Greg. Luckily I've got some nimble tweezers! Got some wachmakers tweezers whith different tips that were quite convenient

The funnel has been "brassed over", some more work to do on the front tower/bridge, finished the rear tower, and the rear 15mm gun Rear 15mm turret Looks good, until I mounted the rear tower ... it seems I have to get rid of some railing, if I want that turret to be able to move around buggers Still a lot of brass to add to rear turret. Next the front 15mm turret, and all the tripple AA guns ... I found that giving the plasstic a preliminairy coat of CA, and another when gluing the brass had the best result for me Cheers

Thanks for the likes and the comments. Greatly appreciated! Joel, Yes it is in a way a pitty, but it adds quite some additional fine detail to the build which wouldn't be possible with plastic or resin. When I look at the gratings ... I wouldn't know how on earth that could be accomplished in plastic (how I wish al the brass weight would be gold !!!) Thanks for visiting!

Personally I don't like billowing sails and oars out for rowing on a static model, or it should be diorama like. On the other hand, it is what you like, Mike.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
