Magnificent work, Michael ... I've been sitting at my screen waiting for each new step, to enjoy all the marvelous details you create, and am flabbergasted with the result

Sam, I don't know, but I am very curious as to what is hidden in those drawers ... maybe it's worth while "storing" for Julie in one of yours ...

Good to see you back at it Tim. Nice touch those watch gears. What's the difference in height compare to the kit supplied one?

I would support that decision too as a father. It is ver much in her interest, and it doesn't mean you wouldn't see her again. Besides, she should be happy in and with her work. It looks more like your government found itself a cheap way to get cheap qualified staff ... Has she decided yet to which country she shall go?

Just when I thought you are nearing completion, you pull another fast one. More beautiful details, and an unexpected fully fitted "monkey island". Any other surprises ...? Lovely work on this majestic ship, she isn't only named after an emperor, but she even looks emperical

Didn't get to the plane part yet, but only bi-planes ... Funny you would expect Tamiya not to make the error to deliver multiple different planes(!) Nice work. For a plane which has an actual size of 1.5 - 2 cm (3/5" - 4/5") Hard not to make errors at this scale!! Did you put them together with tweezers only!?
-
Nice detailed steering, and speed gear, Nils. You just need the weel and you've made the perfect set!

Hughe boats, RGL. Mine are much smaller, at least when I look at them Where did you find that clear plastic airplane. I've been searching for that for months!! You must be getting screwed eyes by now ... lovely result though. I had to do some funnel repairs, rubbed of some PE when I didn't pay attention. Now I know why I should have garded it in a container! Cheers mate, enjoy your beer

Clear head ... maybe better to refrain from the beer ... Just a few questions to get things clear to me: Why should the holly be removed? Is it imperative to paint ... (to paint or not to paint) Does the colour of the wood define the colour it would have been washed/painted Enjoy your beer Cheers

goodness gracious ... great balls of fire ... Greg, that looks like the real deal. b e a u t i f u l

You like dropping boxes, don't you! A bit sloppy to leave those ammunition boxes open RGL... Starts to look like a battleship ready to rock 'n roll, a few big guns, and some more minor items and she's ready ... still a lot of work left though. Looking good

You should try to build an "Enterprise" (e.g. NCC 1701 D) with PE ... they can disappear at warp 9!!
-
she's coming together quite nicely, Greg. A hole lot more AA mounting points compared to the Musashi. It is astonishing how much they added in 1945 to the Yamato. By the way, I love the dark deck, I might consider adding it, as It was used on the Musashi as well. Still working on hte hull, found some more PE to add ...

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
