Mark, I would say: " Trust your gut feeling in this" As I have written so before: When in doubt, restart, if you feel it's wrong ... the same. After you have reached the point of no return - whenever that, is looking at e.g. Dan Vadas' build and his magnificent (to me) impossible redo's - you are likely to feel irritated, even when it's hidden behind an anchor or deadeyes ...

Cristiano, I don't know about the tons, but you must have kilomters spun on here ... Looking good. I do hope it is not that famous 20:80 rule for that whould mean you still have 80% of the work to do on the rigging

Igor, Good save of the day. Point of no return ...? Maybe you cannot go back, but it certainly doesn't mean you cannot alter anything. Nothing is definite in your bottles I might add. Did you hire some of Lawrence's crew ....? Don't know about microsurgery ... more like wizardry ... Very well done!!!

As I recall, Borge is the Brass Master, but you are the Creative Master. I wonder ... can she take much more of your creativity ... any space left ... room for some more gadgets ... usefull tools ... finishing touches ...

Jan, Looks sturdy enough, and I like that 'moustache' at the stern ... I had to remake the stern, and beakhead too, can't recall what I used ... some darkish wood ... luckily we've got a good wood supplier near here (Arnhem 50 Km), they can deliver most types of wood, in large or reasonably small pieces, though, probably a wee bit out of your area ... -
Mark, If it's only 2.5 feet long, you'll probably be slatting instead of planking ... Considering Sam's measurement knowledge ... 2.5 ft = 4 ft = bathtub, I wonder what the size of his house will be in reality ... Is the dustbin a version 1.0 reminder to keep yourself on your toes, I mean focused ...

Just one remark, Mobbsie, I thought liners as well as frigates bound their boats with long lines and left them to be picked up after the fight ... one: to avoid splinters from the boats scything over the deck, two: to 'motivate' the gun crews and sailors ... rather strong persuasion I would say ...

I knew it, when I read it about the reel, I just knew it ... you wouldn't stop!!! You can't ... it naggs, and you start to fret and won't be able to sleep, so you just did a rare redo ... you couldn't resist and when the reel didn't come off ... you just had to try ... now I'm curious ... where are those last pictures ... those pictures of a redone reel ..? Knowing I need to wait all day ... just to get a glimpse ... the suspence is killing me

This is what I was waiting for (gulp) I'm drooling (gulp) looking at your marvelous build ... Although it is the prerogative of the builder to be not satisfied with his build, I cannot see anything wrong with it ...

Great work Patrick, Just caught up with your build. Small, but wonderful ... should be with a Dutch Yacht ... love the detail you've established in this build, and the interior view from the side.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
