Have you thought about a display bas
Ha ha, I’m still thinking about a work cradle! But your query has prompted me to think... hmm... I’ll share if something clever strikes me.

Rkwz, are you happy with the stand you are using? Looks great!

I think it will grow on me
I find for myself this is the case. I’m not usually burdened with the ‘prefect being the enemy of good’ problem though.
It looks good in the photos. If it continues to bother you, then think though replacement or augmentation, but my hunch is, the deck is just fine and given deck furniture, masts, rigging, etc. you will be quick happy with it. Let us know.

More block work. I used 28 gauge copper wire (blackened chemically - but it wears away easily) on the blocks. My tools are a regular pair of snips, xacto blade and a regular pin (head snipped off and mounted in a pin vise). The pin is the correct diameter loop making as it fits the dyed string I'm using for the standing rigging.

are a mixed blessing in that they really set the bar high, and make it a little difficult for me to reach a point where I can say " O.K., That's good enough; time to move on.
I hear that! I just tell myself: my early work (I.e. what I’m doing now), will help show how much I have improved later!

The instructions for most, if not all of Chucks designs are available for free at Model Expo, and they are an incredible resource for detail work.
I agree!! They are like ship modeling school!

There are handbooks on patination/browning/blackening for metal workers, sculptors and the likes
Wefalck, is there one or two you would recommend (in English, if possible)?
