  1. Looks great! You did a great job with the weathering. Good choices in color made for a realistic looking boat.
  2. Hi Ric, welcome to the forum! I’m sure you’ll be glad you decided to post you build log here. I’ll watch and learn. Barry
  3. Sounds like a good fix. And it looks much Improved. One more observation looking at that last photo is that it appears the forward gallis frame is slightly aft of where it should be. It might just be an optical illusion but it looks like the spacing is a bit narrower between that and the next frame than the other frames. In the drawing they appear equally spaced.
  4. First of all, great work! First rate. I’m curious where that picture of CWM was taken. Clearly not in Mystic. I’m also wondering how you avoid the lower shrouds interfering with the gallis frames. I searched my own pictures to see if I could find a good side view. This one is from a couple years ago. Not really clarifying but it is a beautiful view of CWM and I thought I would share it anyway.
  5. It looks like you've got the dimensions down pretty well. I'd say your off to a great start on these. I'm very interested to see you continue!
  6. Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. It'll be a few months before i start this one. I have two projects to complete before I tackle this. Barry
  7. The color looks great. I assume airbrushing is the method you are using?
  8. I just purchased the Mamoli 1:93 version of the Constitution. Historical accuracy is not as important to me as a fine looking ship when I’m done but... I wonder if you could suggest some improvements or modifications as I build her that might improve the accuracy of the model. I’m sure there are many but some that might stand out or fix glaring errors would be appreciated. I’m not afraid of manufacturing my own parts if necessary.
  9. In the meantime... @lowsodiumsailor, where are you with the build? Any progress?
  10. Welcome! I’m looking to seeing your Constitution build.
  11. Bold move making your own rails from firewood. I applaud the effort. Sorry this one didn’t work out but as you say, live and learn. 😀 happy Father’s Day!
  12. Welcome from Indy! Will you be posting a log on your Thermopylae?
  13. Nice job. Looks real good for even an experienced builder. You’ve got a great start. I don’t see the stealers your mentioned. You’ve done a good job with them blending them in I guess.
  14. Congratulations on a superb build! Wonderful to see.
  15. Beautifully done! And the leftover confetti from your “finally done with copper plates” celebration is appropriate.😀
  16. That's what I'm talkin' about! That's the stuff! I knew you would nail this. Looks great!
  17. Just catching up with your build. Fantastic look on your deck! Quite the showpiece. I’m sure your coppering will equally grand when you get the hang of it.
  18. Congratulations. A beautiful boat and fine craftsmanship. I’ll keep an eye out for your revenue cutter build.
  19. Welcome! Is there a particular ship or boat you want to build?
