With my own packaging which includes reconstructing a box to get the needed length, both USPS and UPS look like in the vicinity of $70 to send to California (worst case assumption). Large heavy boxes cost more and the box has to be like 30” long. If someone sends me their zip code I can weigh and measure more accurately and get a better estimate.

Many of the decals are too tiny to distinguish from the camo and the decals on the undercarriage are all black and I painted the undercarriage black. So I’m only going to use the larger decals on the wings and fuselage

does this one sport the letter codes that the Germans were noted for
I haven’t yet paid much attention to the decals. I’ll be starting them today, and maybe I can figure out if there are letter codes.
I originally purchased this kit for 2 reasons: 1 it was on sale for about $12, and 2: it looked interesting. I don’t really try to “collect” any specific type of aircraft. Just whatever appeals to me at the moment.
Thank you for the compliment on the camo. I didn’t know it was “winter” camo. I was, to be honest, quite puzzled as to what it was supposed to be.The book looks interesting, but we are trying to reduce our collection of stuff, not add to it😁. Maybe I can find it in the library.

Did you darken the seams or am I just seeing natural lighting. Looks great.

Seems like a long time since I have updated, but its only been about three weeks. Happy to report Standing Rigging is completed.
The Fore Lower Yard is in place. Prepared with the associated Running Rigging Blocks and Sheet Chains. I have decided to build without sails. I would hate to cover up the details that are taking so long to complete. 😆
Still need to complete Rat Lines and Battens. Very tedious....
Here is a closeup is the Main Shrouds at the Main Lower Doubling.
Feels like she has a long way to go. However, looking back there are a lot of accomplishments. Hours spent now stand at 344. Began this Journey back on January 21st 2020. Seems like so long ago...😎
Onward 🍻
You have progressed very rapidly. And at great job at that

I tried to PM you but your not set up to accept pm's.
That’s weird. I have received PMs. I will recheck my settings.
We just signed a contract for a new smaller home and have a lot on my mind, but I plan to pack this kit up this week and see if I can get an estimate from USPS. Stay tuned. -
The $100 quote from UPS. included boxing up by them. I can probably reduce that by boxing myself. I will look into that.
stay tuned -
For you non-physicists, one Planck length is about 0.000000000000000000000000000000000016 meters (should be 34 0s if I counted correctly)

I have a Mamoli Victory that I started and totally lost interest in. I will give it away free! I can’t guarantee that everything is still in the box; I’m pretty sure that I may have cannibalized a few blocks over time. Shipping will be on the order of $100 which I think is too steep, but that’s what UPS told me a year or two ago when I offered this before. However, If someone within say 50 miles of Leesburg, VA , wants it I am willing to meet at a reasonable halfway point. I’d like to see this go to someone who will finish it rather than trash it. We are in the process of some serious down sizing; selling our home and buying a much smaller place and I am going to have to really restrict the ship yard.
watch this space as there may well be more kits for sale or donation in the next 6 months.

The base coat, a light blue Tamiya color, was brushed on. 2 coats with a very light sanding between. The dots were done with a micron pen (picture). I drew a wiggly line of single dots and then redid the same line about 2 more times at a slight offset. The trick is not to get too repetitive or create obvious repeated patterns. It went remarkably fast. I have never been successful with an airbrush. They always clog up before any paint actually comes through. And it takes forever to clean them out. All of this is probably due to operator error and ignorance.

Beautiful ship and model. I always loved this story about the original race.
Legend has it that while watching the race, Queen Victoria asked who was second, and received the famous reply: "There is no second, your Majesty."

Does anyone know why this structure is called a "hurricane house"?

It is a shame, but enough is visible that one has to do all the detail. A lot of plastic aircraft kits are like that. Detailed interiors that one never sees
