Thanks Jeff! The fcastle work continues. The coamings were added along with the planking and the bitts that were made quite some time ago. Also the mast coat was made from the Syren laser cut parts. Next I'm on to the belfry.

Thanks Tim, I was trying to help out by letting everyone know it's ok when you have to make adjustments. Just look forward to how the adjustments can have a positive or negative effect on other aspects. Thanks Bob, I learned from you and others! Thanks Glenn but I'm sure with your preparation you won't even need to "adjust" this planking.

I've moved on to the cap rail and margin planks for the fcastle. As it has been mentioned Chucks suggests we print out the bow cap rail templates from Chapter ten and match your bow. This definitely will be a benefit when you get to this part of the build. I know now from my experiences. Nothing bad I just had to do a little "adjusting". At the bow the laser cut cap rail on the port side fit well. On the starboard side my curve was a little sharper that the plans called for. With the precut spots for the timber head's, I couldn't just heat and bend it. So, I cut a new section with the curve to match my bulkhead. I was careful to use the precut upper portion of the cap rail to ensure the cutouts for the timberheads were in the correct spots. You can see from the below picture the slight difference. Not much but sometimes a little if just too much. Then I completed the rest of the cap rail and started on the margin planks. This led to minor issue #2. The forward most margin plank template did not fit as it should. Again, my curvature was slightly off. So instead of bending the plank to fit I adjusted my planks to my curvature. I wanted to keep the inner curve the same because if I didn't it would have thrown of the rest of the planks. Below you can see the template and the extra wood on the outside of the curve. Now that I had a plank that fit to the bulkheads, I could finish sanding the inside curve and plank the rest of the deck without issue. I could have done these "adjustments" and not fessed up but I wanted to show how such little differences can cause issues later on. The more attention paid early on pays off tremendously later on. Now you sharp eyed people surely noticed in the first few pictures the chimney was attached to the ships stove. Then heavy hands popped it off while planking. So, the chimney is now safely stowed until more planking is finished and it needs to be reattached. Otherwise, I see it going for a ride several more times!

Hi all, the good news is that I'm back working on Winnies chapter 9 which is great. The bad news is I should have been at the Admiralty Models workshop and not working on the Winnie. On Monday morning after ducking and dodging for the last two years the COVID bug finally caught me. I'm on meds and able to function but at a much slower pace. I have enclosed the framing on the bulwarks, added the cap rail at the waist and worked my way aft. Here you can see that my bulwarks curve is slightly different than Chucks laser cut cap rail but not enough to cause an issue.

Hi All, Well, the Dutchess of Kingston has officially been finished. It took me some time to finish working around my other builds, but it was well worth it. I want to commend Chris Watton for producing such a wonderful kit that looks great and is a pleasure to build. I look forward to some of Vanguards future releases and trying to figure out what one I want to build next. To those who built the Duchess before me thank you for your logs. They saved me more times that I can count. Thanks to all of you for your comments, support and likes. It was deeply appreciated.

The anchors have been made with a minor modification on my part. The stocks are two parts and when I put them together and started sanding them, I was not happy with the way I could make them look. Not the parts fault. I was not as careful putting the together and the seam just didn't look good to my eye. Because of this I cut some stocks from pear I had on hand. Now with the anchors in place I just have rope coils to make and check the lines to ensure they are snug, and we'll be finished. That happy sad moment is rapidly approaching.
