Finished the second to third deck stairs including the handrailing. The hardest part was stretching the small rolled brasswire. Regards, John

Stelios, I am really impressed by what you are doing. Such nice details and historical accuracy, for me that is a big step too far. Thanks for these nice pictures. Regards, John -
Brian, Thanks very much. All I know from the history of these paddle steamers comes from the books of Mark Twain and searching the internet. So I cannot add anything to the Wikipedia page as indicated by Wim. Wim, Thanks for looking in and advising Brian. Stelios and Al, Thanks very much. I am really flattered by your comments. Best regards, John

john46 replied to DORIS's topic in - Build logs for subjects built 1501 - 1750
Wow what a progress Doris, the new crowns are beautiful, the handpumps magnificent. If it is a rainy day and I do not want to go out to the museum I simply browse your log. Regards, John- 881 replies

Thanks very much Wayne, I am flattered. Problem with Sjors is that when you give him an inch, he'll take a yard. Offered him to pop his corn and see what happened, he now comes up with a piza (and I am afraid that's only a starter) ! Regards, John

The third deck can now be entered safely by having added the short stairs to the cabins. Now I have to finish the tall stairs to the second deck and then all stairs are in place. Regards, John

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
