OK, so it really just means a wooden block with an external steel strop, but as you say, Bob, why on earth specify it? John

Ummm, you want to run that past me again, Michael? John

You've made an impressive start to the model. She's really going to look "the ant's pants"! John

Bob, I've never heard of a 'score block'. There is no reference to such a block in Paasch's 'Illustrated Marine Encyclopaedia' (1890), Admiralty Manual Of Seamanship Volume I’ (1915) or Wilson-Barker's 'Elementary Seamanship' (1896). As Druxey suggested, I think I'd simply go with internally stropped blocks. John

That wheel really looks first class, Cathead. I hope you're taking some photos of your model to show to the people at the museum. John

Thanks, one and all. When I look at her lines I find it hard to picture these being built as knock-about working boats. John

Finally took a few photos of the Pritt with a few coats of Poly on the hull. I like the finish! Progress will be even slower for a bit as I research deck details of the ship and then build them. John

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
