Andrea Doria was a very elegant liner and her tragic end certainly captured my interest as a young boy. She'll make a beautiful model. John

It's good to see an update on your tug. As Mark says, you'll know all that detail is down in the engine room, and so will we! John

Looks like she was hit by quite a squall, Mobbsie, but I'm sure you'll soon have her all shipshape again. John

A huge improvement, Mark, but I think I agree with Dan that there's still a little to go. John

Coming on very nicely, Popeye. By the way, just to be pedantic, the lifeboat 'cradles' are officially called 'chocks'. John

Thank you one and all for the encouragement. Hopefully it won't take so long for the next update. John

It's been a while since I've been able to get to the museum, so no work has been done on the Pritt for a few weeks. In spite of the museum being top heavy with kids yesterday because of the school holidays, I still managed to get quite a bit done. The deck has now been completely treenailed and rough sanded down. Next step will be to make the capping rail, then bring her home for a couple of coats of clear finish before starting on the detail work. John The fore end rough sanded Looking a bit more civilised

Good on you for going ahead with the re-fairing, Mark. A brave and wise decision. John

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
