now what could be so big......that it would keep you away from such a cool build? .......unless it's an addition for a work area looking forward in seeing your progress......got to keep the admiral happy. I have to........she's my budget director......and I think she's been browsing the books from the Wharf........oh...oh........cost over runs :0

work......four letter word......too bad it wasn't included in the list of four letter words, mother told you never to say......LOL! nice work area.......I am in envy.........! enjoy your new title.....I'll look forward to getting there myself.......and in seeing more progress on your fine build!

hello Sarah.....I see you started your ratlines........good show! sounds like a neat method........I just go up without skipping. I had never done them before, until I got into wood builds......plastic build ratlines are usually premade. I'll probably have a set when I do the United States......I'm going to do dead eyes and ratlines for that build. I'll look forward in seeing how they come out.......so far.........sooooo good!

oh.......I can just imagine what the neighbors would say Andy..........it probably would go down like Bill Crosby's comedy skit "Noah" "Whatcha build'in?" "An Ark....." "ah....ha." "well, you wanna move it out of my driveway.......I gotta get to work. Whatcha build'in it for any way?" {there's more here......I'll be brief...there are three parts to this skit} "Well....let me ask you this........how long can you tread water.....ah......ha.....ha....ha....ha!" .......a full size ship in my backyard......an...ha.......{I'm saving that area for when I do yous ship.....ah.....ha....ha....ha....ha! } do you work on the Gothenborg Bummer?

thanks everyone.........it's an excellent idea Andy....thank you! I'm going to try making a slatted one.....I agree. I even have a couple of extra hinges left over. I can either leave it extended {so I can do a bit more brass work}, or make it folded up......I'llhave to toy with it to see what would be best. my jaw dropped dude, when I saw it......sso cool! the spindles for the railings, Keith, are Billing's answer for eye bolts. in a lot of their kits, instead of the normal rounded eye bolts that we all know, they have ....to put it simply.......stubby pegs with a hole through it. they don't look like eye bolts at all, but I have found uses for them. I have some other different stanchions...different heights. note that the inner ones are a bit higher than the outer ones.....I have some taller than that. but these serve the purpose very well for what they do. I have to get some more now.....for when I get back to the trawler Syborn.....I'm starting to run low again, I want to thank everyone for your kind comments.....I guess I can't call this boat, my mistake, any more. I was thinking about it the other day, while I was working on her.........I wondered if this was the biggest 'boo boo' than anyones ever recovered from. the misstrung line......the malshapen fitting......I think it's quite funny that I did it to an entire boat. I'm so glad I chose to go this route I don't believe I posted the results of the gauge panels.......they are installed on the boats here is the panel for the Denny-Zen........... and the panel for the Phylly C.

she looks great Sjors.........I do have to ask though......are you trying to copy me? per the type of builds and their nature, I think your neck and neck.........by the time you rig both of these ships, I should be caught up with the builds I have in the works {and I'll even throw in my B&M snow plow diorama into the equasion, just to make it fair }

additional bling was added......trim rails and side rails for the inner deck cockpit. the inner ones are a bit higher for child protection, and to mate with the appature on the starboard side, heading towards the helm. it begins with the port side. the inner rail on the starboard then the outer rail I did notice that one of the posts on the port side outer rail, wasn't pushed in all the way. that has since been corrected. I terminated the outer railing even with the inner one......I will be putting a ladder here.

OK.......now that I am back with the Phylly C, I can add some of the bling to her. as mentioned, I think I have gone far enough with the Denny-Zen. most of what is left, can be done to both of them. I thought to go with skis for the Phylly C, so I'll start by making up the tow ropes.......the rope coils. then, to make the handles for them eye bolts were added to the stern deck the tow ropes were then tied to the eye bolts.....the coils cemented to the deck the gauge panel was assembled at this point.......this will be done on both boats. all this is, is printed paper, sealed, with a wood border around it.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
