I have a few places for storage.... one is shelf kept clear except for the model I'm working on. The others are plastic containers in various sizes that I've bought from craft stores and also some old well-cleaned food containers.

Yes. hardwood is an excellent choice for them.

I think that with the tools and plans you have, the Rhino won't add much as the parts can be cut from the plans using the tools you own.

Are those measurements you gave "actual" or "scale"? Seems a 9 foot long keel will be huge if that is actual size. As for large quantities it depends on where you are and what local species are available and also a local mill or wood shop to do the cutting. You might also inquire our sponsors that do custom woods and see if they take special orders.

When I built my Constellation (see link in my signature) I scratched my own galleries. Different era and probably different design. The kit had some crappy casting and wasn't accurate nor fitting properly. It really wasn't all that hard to do. You could probably do the same thing on your model but you may need to rework the stern like the bottom photo shows. The upper photo seems to show the stern framed in as it should be. -
My parents bought one but I wasn't present when they used it. Per the family legend, it filled the kitchen and much of house with smoke. The dogs were charcoal and the whole mess was unplugged. taken outside and hosed down before ending up in the trashcan.

Interesting problem. Have you looked at other builds? It would appear that there are no galleries as such the extend out from hull siding. I might be wrong on that part. And yes, it looks like the bottom of the windows do go lower than the gun deck. If those are galleries extending outside the hull line, it's possible that the gallery deck was lower than the main deck but not being familiar with Spanish vessels I can't say for certain. -

which mini wood lathe is best?

Ben, is there a Makerspace where you are located? If so, they probably at least have a wood lathe and possibly a metal one also as well as many other power tools... mills, saw, sanders, etc. (the local one near me has seemingly a warehouse full). Pretty reasonable to join them and they do have training on all their tools, both power and hand. If it's like ours, they won't let use and tool unless a) you had their training and/or b) prove that you know how to use it. -
Macro is out enemy especially on such tiny model as that boat. It does look great from here. And Bedford is right about being our own worst enemy. Enjoy (hopefully) you're time off for the holidays.

Can you immerse the glued parts in alcohol? If so, I've used PVA (Elmer's School Glue is my usual first choice) and when time to separate and just dropped them into alcohol. I don't force them apart but let the alcohol soak and dissolve the glue. Sometimes it a matter of maybe an hour and other times it's a lot longer.

There is but I'm not sure what it is currently. I just size all mine a 1500 pixels wide and seems to give a good image.

See Jaager' and Nirvana's comments. Many ways to get planks bent. As for buying one, lots of places carry them and no ones ever made any comments about buying them.

Yes. But do try to use a large an image as possible. Some phones are limited to size and we end up tiny photos.

Thanks Frolick. I saw that site but I'm building at 1:64. He is doing nice work. I ended up buying some guns from Chuck and since they'll all basically be hidden, I think they'll be ok. I may have to tweek the muzzle. though. Currently, she's on the back bench waiting for me to get my Sphinx kit finished. High School French????? Sadly I didn't take French. But Google Translate is my friend.

I'm surprised that the helmsman would be in that position. Seems very cramped and not very ergo friendly as far as being able to change sides while steering. But he does look the part there.
