I'm not certain but I would think that they would be rare that small. The rigging, for example, would really be tiny. Now ships in a bottle is a different matter.

Looking for pre-made sails for Mamoli Britannia
mtaylor replied to Bob Lowther's topic in Wood ship model kits
Do consider opening a build log for your model. It's probably the best way to meet others and also get and ideas during the building. -
I too have the MM Proxxon Clone saw, probably for 10 years now or so. I've found that it pretty much does what I want but it has limitations on wood sizes. Thickness being one of the limitations but proper choice of blade and feed speed it can be done. I highly recommend the PDF in the first post of this topic: https://modelshipworld.com/topic/23843-byrnes-saw-reference-also-good-for-other-desktop-hobby-saws/ There's one part in there on blade sizes (tooth count) and wood thickness which would be most helpful.

Try this Keith... put a piece of foil over the flash such that next to no light gets out and then shoot using the "flash" setting. Some cameras set the aperture down for flash and that improves the focus. Looks like your close so short focal length. Or maybe try a manual setting. Try some experiments see if any of that helps.

I didn't know that book came in "volumes". The one I have is in English and has everything. It is a good general reference. There are, I have found, difference in details. And the rigging is pretty generic but then again, I think all rigging was pretty similar.

Makes my eyes hurt just thinking about working on something that tiny.

Great to see you back, Keith. Reworks are usually not fun but the results are worth it.

Hmm.... need a very large bottle for that. Depending on the contents, I'm sure there would be volunteers to help empty it. <raises hand to assist in emptying said bottle>

F-86F-30 Sabre by Egilman - Kinetic - 1/32nd scale

Great looking model, EG. And you have a great wife. She's right. -
Last report I saw said there's still a huge amount of empty containers in west coast ports as well as scattered across the county. Getting them back to the coast and then to China isn't cheap. Part of the issue is also the number of truckers on the road has decreased so they're only moving when full. Fuel costs seem to still a factor in truck shipping.

Beautiful work and yes, check, re-check, and then check things again is basically a rule to follow. Just don't do all the checks in one day. Spread out them out so you don't fall into complacency. -
Many only follow the instructions and don't do any research.

WWII Sunken German Warships Exposed by Drought
mtaylor replied to mtaylor's topic in Nautical/Naval History
That's very much a problem. They have no idea what munitions are still on board and their status. I would hope that they somehow lined off the wrecks to keep souvenir hunters and urban explorers away. One article mentioned that some "experts" think they removed all the explosives before scuttling for use elsewhere. But they really don't know for certain. -

Very possible they changed suppliers of the bits. I think I bought mine probably 15-20 years ago when I first started modeling ships. Thus, my statement about about "maybe they still do" as I haven't bought any micro bits since then.

Perhaps they could be. I don't think there would be an issue as they aren't war graves like some the ships have been salvaged in the Pacific.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
