  1. I'm not certain but I would think that they would be rare that small. The rigging, for example, would really be tiny. Now ships in a bottle is a different matter.
  2. Do consider opening a build log for your model. It's probably the best way to meet others and also get and ideas during the building.
  3. I too have the MM Proxxon Clone saw, probably for 10 years now or so. I've found that it pretty much does what I want but it has limitations on wood sizes. Thickness being one of the limitations but proper choice of blade and feed speed it can be done. I highly recommend the PDF in the first post of this topic: https://modelshipworld.com/topic/23843-byrnes-saw-reference-also-good-for-other-desktop-hobby-saws/ There's one part in there on blade sizes (tooth count) and wood thickness which would be most helpful.
  4. Sounds similar to scratchbuilding a wooden ship. Tons of tools and wood choices. Hundreds of plans.
  5. Try this Keith... put a piece of foil over the flash such that next to no light gets out and then shoot using the "flash" setting. Some cameras set the aperture down for flash and that improves the focus. Looks like your close so short focal length. Or maybe try a manual setting. Try some experiments see if any of that helps.
  6. I didn't know that book came in "volumes". The one I have is in English and has everything. It is a good general reference. There are, I have found, difference in details. And the rigging is pretty generic but then again, I think all rigging was pretty similar.
  7. Strength comes in 2 flavors. One is "resist". The other is just "do it". LOL.
  8. Excellent news on the project. I daresay you are ready for some rest and recreation.
  9. Makes my eyes hurt just thinking about working on something that tiny.
  10. Amen. I'm in total agreement and feel grateful to be able to follow along.
  11. Great to see you back, Keith. Reworks are usually not fun but the results are worth it.
  12. Hmm.... need a very large bottle for that. Depending on the contents, I'm sure there would be volunteers to help empty it. <raises hand to assist in emptying said bottle>
  13. Great looking model, EG. And you have a great wife. She's right.
  14. Last report I saw said there's still a huge amount of empty containers in west coast ports as well as scattered across the county. Getting them back to the coast and then to China isn't cheap. Part of the issue is also the number of truckers on the road has decreased so they're only moving when full. Fuel costs seem to still a factor in truck shipping.
  15. Beautiful work and yes, check, re-check, and then check things again is basically a rule to follow. Just don't do all the checks in one day. Spread out them out so you don't fall into complacency.
  16. Many only follow the instructions and don't do any research.
  17. It was a fatal strategic mistake to shift to bombing the cities. I'm waiting to see what Chris does next on the build and am surprised by the detail.
  18. Found these but I'm not sure they're good enough. The second one is an emoticon for "gobsmacked".
  19. That's very much a problem. They have no idea what munitions are still on board and their status. I would hope that they somehow lined off the wrecks to keep souvenir hunters and urban explorers away. One article mentioned that some "experts" think they removed all the explosives before scuttling for use elsewhere. But they really don't know for certain.
  20. They were what.... a month away from knocking the RAF out of the air if I recall correctly? Hitler being Hitler changed the plan almost overnight to bombing cities instead of the RAF.
  21. Stephane, MSW is an English language site. Please use Google Translate or other method to post in English. Thank you. MSW est un site en anglais. Veuillez utiliser Google Translate ou une autre méthode pour publier en anglais. Merci.
  22. Very possible they changed suppliers of the bits. I think I bought mine probably 15-20 years ago when I first started modeling ships. Thus, my statement about about "maybe they still do" as I haven't bought any micro bits since then.
  23. Perhaps they could be. I don't think there would be an issue as they aren't war graves like some the ships have been salvaged in the Pacific.
