Not a bad idea, Dan. The problem isn't the material.. it's the size. Something I just need to work through.

Your sails are looking super, Ron. I like the translucence of them as it gives a more realistic look.

I have no idea what happened either, Alva. The first post here... the long one is in Spanish, not English. Your other posts are fine. It is possible that Google Translate crashed or had issues. I've seen that in the past where if the text is too long, it won't translate.

I'm happy to hear that all is well again. The model is looking great. The crew really puts it in perspective.

Indeed it does. Seems every answer begats more questions. My question though is do the paintings represent different points in time? I would think repairs would create changes to decorations and ships aren't static due to wear and tear such as weather and battle and wood doesn't always age well at sea. And it seems that an "as launched" drawing seldom matches one "at disposal". So to me, many of the differences are very possible as "points in time". You doing a great research project on her and I find your findings and conclusions fascinating.

Auto login failure

Phil, are you using "private" mode on Firefox? I use it for some sites and with "private" mode, it doesn't seem to fill in login and passwords. -

Welcome to MSW, Andrew. The Model Expo Shipwright Series has been getting good reviews. It's set up to start "simple" and then add complexity. https://modelexpo-online.com/Model-Shipways-Shipwright-Series_c_815.html -
Feel free to do build logs in the scratch area for any projects you're still building or will build in the future.

Ah yes... fun times. I had to sit in the driveway and not in the house or garage. Wefalck's comment about explosives applied to me also. Sadly, today we'd all be in jail for doing it.

Welcome to MSW, Allen. You'll have to get in touch with an admin for that. Chuck would probably be best as James is off on holiday.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
