Evening all, more progress today inbetween playing with the dog, I found the right thickness of thread - then started to attach the handrail ropes, these runs were tied off at both ends with loops and pva inbetween, when all were done I applied some paint to blend them in. I think they turned out ok - even the odd ones. Just a couple of pics. OC.

Evening all, I havn't been on the last couple of days internet issue - anyway next stage with captain sparrows old ship led me into the area of the rope support rods that stick out of the bulkhead protrusions, firstly I had to carefuly drill a hole through the center of each protrusion/post, this went well with poop deck but when I did the same to the forecastle - "upsee - daisy" a broke a few posts but always onwards - so I just fitted some pins in anyway - they now just need paint and ropes. Just a few pics - OC.

Yep there are rope diagrams in the instructions - but I guess its like hull planking where it takes experience till you do it the right way. OC.

When I come to do my first rigging what ever that will be (mast support ropes - what ever they are called) I will be hoping to be lead by the hand to show me how to do it (Scary) OC.

I would be better off putting a patch over the admiarals eyes - all four of them - two front two back, you know the scenario "I can see what you are doing" lol. OC.

I was chatting with a friend of mine the author of a couple of books Iain Ballantyne, the other day and even he used a acronym at me or was it a nautical term - BZ yep we know it means good show carry on. OC.

Yes mate we have amazon, I will have to wait to see if my bank will refund me in 12 or so days time. What is most anoying the battery I payed for was a gunuine Toshiba one they work and last so much better than the cheaper versions out there, I currently have a cheap one in my laptop and it lasts about 20 minutes after a full charge (basically it only lasted a year and has been dying over the last six months) OC.

Thanks kevin, I chased it up - got into my paypal and no transactions are showing up in there - so it must have been a scam paypal page the transaction was taken from - lots and lots of reports about the company (chinese) people behind the scam. Yep the Pearl is progressing slowly - got most of the hull done minus the canons then its masts/spars and fun times with my first ever rigging. OC.

Hi all, nothing to show picture wise today as all I did was to tidy up 6 barrels by adding the nozel ends then scraping the seams along the middle of each barrel, I then drilled out twenty holes through the hull sides for the breech ropes to pass thorugh (as I have done before) OC.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
