i will have to scratch everything, but i can get a rough idea by counting the amount of bricks to get the length and height, the pile of wet grass for your silage pile sounds interesting -
good evening everyone Day 11 since change of scale the Church of St Wilber the saint of lost model builders continues the windows are not had anything special done to then, just wanted to see how things could be done, and how things can be improved as i progress the colour in the glass is from chocolate wrappers 3 openings still to be done on the tower, a spire, door, arch way and the roof itself i have no where to put this at present, so will put it on a base at a later date

good evening eveyone its me the silly old one living in Somerset Day 9 since restart, and still going at it one side is almost finished, and the other side will be tomorrow, not sure about the tower, trying to work out how to complete it, a spire is on the cards at present, plus i might put in some openings from the bells, bats and spiders a;though i have no intentions of restarting this, i must be more careful when planning a building from scratch, as there is a mismatch in brick heights on one side compared to the other, i have hidden it as best i can, hence the thin bricks at the top of the windows

agreed, to build a one off kit in 1/180 was fine, but to put a collection together, wasnt going to work for me because of the lack of detail, however, lol i rescaled my 1/150 Bodiam castle kit to 1/87, and it is to big for my table as it measures 900x650 https://www.hobbies.co.uk/model-kits/architectural-brick-model-kits/aedes-ars-bodiam-castle-model-kit-architectural-model-kit

Good evening everyone day 7 since restart, now changed scale to 1/87 having made the decision to up the scale, everything will now have to be scratched, so i made a start, and decided like others to start on a church the card i am using is to thin for this project, and i have not dressed my tiles very well, but, nothing i wasted if i redo it again, i may try and cleans the tiles up with filler first before binning it, googled a English medieval church with square tower, 1000's to choose from and all different picked some of the bits i could copy and went for it

good evening everyone day 5 complete layout change, and revamp river entrance after the mistake made yesterday with the arch supports, and struggling how to get the river to flow with purpose i made the decision to do a complete layout change, and now much happier with the way things are going, the river is just a channel now feeding the shipyard and passengers to the city by boat the 2nd arch has gone, although i might keep both open on the other side for something, light a medieval Eastenders under bridge garage
-
decided i didnt like the current layout, the river was to tight a bend and i was already thinking about addon boards, which should not be necessary on day 3/4 so i moved the bridge over and placed a shipyard in, and boat traffic passengers the base board will be water height, and the waterside river gates are being revamped to include towers from this to this

found this, hope it helps

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
