Hi Joseph and welcome to MSW. You are off with a great start with the schooner. It's looking good, I know you have attached the second layer of planking, so I wonder "Did you file down the nail heads in order to get a smooth surface for the second layer"? I filed down the heads when I build the hull of Constructos America 1851, that after all the glue had set. Besides I didn't get a second set of planking. Looking forward to see the outcome. Never hesitate to ask questions - that's why we are here!

Hi Ronco Valerio, First I like to welcome you to ModelShipWorld, a great forum to questions answered. I did a quick search and found an Italian website, which shows the correct Constructo number and a price. I have a hard time to determine whether this kit is available. I wish you all the best luck.

Air brush vs paint & brush
Nirvana replied to jefferyt's topic in Painting, finishing and weathering products and techniques
May I chime in? Here's my take on airbrushing - it's very well worth getting the skills involved, at the end it boils down to quality of "brush-gun" and quality of paint. I work exclusively with the Vallejo brand (not saying it's the best or worst), it's a brand I am comfortable with. Using their regular brush paint and getting a nice coating requires again good quality of brushes and patience. My conclusion: investing in a double tank compressor and high quality "brushes" are all worth it. Here is my comparison of my compressors and go to posting 2813. -

That's a nice setting for the ship. Looks like there very little left to do. -
Hi Drummer1061 warm I see you are a drummer as well as a ship-modeler.

I totally agree regarding sail making. The provided material for sail in kits in general are not good at all.

Since you are at the machining stage, make another set and send me....... just kidding. That looks awesome! I have to stick with the in-kit part.

I.e Syren, this as I have noticed mice has had a great time in my box....🤔 Thank you for your service!

Hi and welcome to MSW, I am glad seeing an Albatros again. I did an editing and added two tags. This way it will be easy for others to find your build. You are off with a great start and it certainly looks good. Looks like the progress of your build is going fast. Again, warm welcome to MSW and please sign up as a member with NRG. The membership fee is worth it! -
Did you use any water in the container of the iron for steam or just dry-ironed? The small irons are really nice to use. Which model of Nikon are you using? And is that a Manfrotto tri-pod?

I don't know about the bubbles you got from the epoxy. This might be a heat/resin related problem (epoxy do generate heat) and the topcoat of the resin is separating. As for the deck I don't see any warp, please show us a picture of this. However, what I see regarding this build I like it very much. What I understand this is a fairy fast quick build and you are doing very well. From a personal point of view I would have painted the hull before attaching the deck.

John, on their website you see what you will pay in USD. Many years ago I ordered two kits from them and at the same time some items from ModelExpo-online, guess what arrived first? Yes, the kits from England arrived within a week, had to wait additional eight days before I got the ModelExpo items. Best part of it even though I had to pay for the freight - no taxes what so ever! Maybe I was lucky.

A photo-table is highly recommended, they come in various sizes and qualities. Choose a table that has an acrylic flexible top. Blue or green back drop paper will work amazingly if you like to post-edit picture and insert a background. The sweep is important as it will eliminate shadows, and using in-direct backlight your model will certainly stand out. See this one

Richard, go into your setting and change from color to b/w. I am an avid pro-amateur photographer (40 years experience), and considering going back to regular analog camera along using digital. I still have my equipment except the darkroom items.

Trumpeter Scharnhorst Battlecruiser 1/200 is coming soon.
Nirvana replied to yvesvidal's topic in Plastic model kits
Chris, with that type of single piece hull you can convert her to an R/C ship. There's plenty of space inside for all the equipment. -
