Sure she is Wayne,

Maybe we have to move to a castle…….

When I'm at the top of the mast, I can trow my seat away.

I have to do it standing up!

Hi Jim,

I was surprised that Adeline ( Padeen ) ask me if she can join the fan club…..

You are the second one who's starting the day with a smile because of something I said.

So be my guest and join my fan club :D:D:D:D:D

And I can post pictures, no problem at all, but that has nothing to do with building…….

Then i get a warning from one of those Moderator things, and one of those I live together with…….

So i have to be careful…….there is already a sign in the house that is saying….WARNING POINTS!

I don't know what she is meaning by that.

Do you know that?

animaatjes-sjors-94584.gif

You need not be surprised, Sjors: you are bringing a lot of fun on the forum and your build is very pleasant to follow.

Keep up shrouding! (does that word exists, who knows?)

Thank you Adeline  :D

If that word not exists, from now on it does!

I love that word.

You have learn that from the ratline gnomes?

And no worries about the shrouds.

I eat the donuts with those plastic gloves, just like a surgeon….

Only for that if there is coming any comment from a few guys!!!!!!!!!!!

So you use to drive for the Royals? That must have been VERY interesting work.

Hi Keith,

You are right about a lot of things!

And yes, I have driving for the royalties.

Wonderful time and still miss it!

Yesterday I wish I was there also.

Come to think of it, those deadeyes kind of look like donuts :)

You'll get used to standing up while you work.  Or do what I do....have a second workbench that's only 0.6m high off the floor.

Hi Sjors,

I've found why you are having a problem with lining the Chains up with the Shrouds.

Take a look at the three pics below and see the difference in the height of your Chainplates - you have yours much too low  (where the red line is in the first picture). The last picture is of my own Mirage.

That's why your Chains are hitting the gunports at funny angles - they don't have enough room to go above them.

No easy fix for this I'm afraid - the Chainplates would have to come off and be raised. I understand if you don't want to do this ;)  .

Cheers, Danny

Sjors, you got the answer. You need to drill holes in the cross-trees for the deadeyes. On your San Ildefonso, look ahead at the rigging drawings. I'll bet you'll have to drill holes there also. If you can, drill them before you put them on the masts.

I hope you had a nice day off to watch the Coronation.

Piece of good advice!

Best regards,

Garward

Danny,

I will try to see if I can raise the chainplate otherwise it stays this way.

I know where I go wrong and the result of that.

When she is finished ( and if she get finished) I can only hope that if somebody watching her in my house, don't know anything about ships from that year…...

I consider the Le Mirage as a learning ship and try to avoid such things on the San Ildefonso and others who are maybe coming in the next years.

I hope that this is also a lesson for other builders , so they not make the same mistakes I did…...

Maybe it is better to stay with tugboats ,paddle steamers or rowing boats with no shrouds and chainplates  :D

Thanks Sherry, Jim and  Adrieke,

Today my vacation begins , so I have a lot of building time the coming 3 weeks  :D  :D  :D

Wow, 3 weeks no bus! I love it!

And I couldn't understand everything why to me lanyard between deadeye seem too long. Thanks to the explanation everything became clear.

Hi Robbyn ( lady's first ) Popeye and Wayne,

Thanks….

Wayne, pictures are coming after the trip to England!

Robbyn, No pictures of the ship for a while…..

Reason?

I have to change a lot like the chainplates, shrouds , maybe the reeling.

At this moment I put her on a shelf for a while.

The joy of building at her is gone for the moment.

Then it is better to quit before it turns into firewood.

She will be finished someday but not this time.

I go back to the San Ildefonso.

Good idea to switch over for a bit.  But I don't want to hear any more about 'firewood'.  You've got a lot of good work in her and you WILL be proud when she's done.

When is the trip to Agamemnon....... I mean England :)

Sorry to hear Sjors, but it is a wise decision to put her in drydock for the time being. After a while you gathered enough courage to fix her. Have fun with San Ildefonso in the meantime. Happy holidays.

Firewood, Oh Dear Please NO!

Take a break and work on another until the frustration subsides. She's TOO Beautiful to burn. She's Too Beautiful to do anything but finish, there is no race, you can take as long as needed, Just ask Kevin and his Americo Vespucio.

Anja must take your matches away.

Congratulations on vacation, I can wait to see pictures of the Vicky tour. Have a safe and fun vacation.
