18th Century Longboat by Tigersteve - FINISHED - Model Shipways

Great looking model! I believe 1-2" clearance on all sides is the norm

Once I get to the point where I need to case one of my models. I was going to look into this place. http://www.casesforcollectibles.com/

It's just down the road from me and I could probably just drive there and avoid delivery and shipping charges.

It's nice when you can just visit these places in person. I'm still trying to figure out how much buffer to leave on each dimension. I haven't found any standards on this online yet. Probably a personal preference. I think I need to do a mockup to see it in 3D.

Don, thanks for the info. I will think on this.

That looks fantastic. The setting is nicely done, realistic and creative without distracting from the model itself. I've had fun following this one, you've done such a nice job.

Well done, you should be very proud! Great attention to detail and it shows all the thought you have been put into it. Super presentation.

Thank you everyone for such nice comments. I am very happy with the outcome. Hoping I can plank the pinnace just as well or better.

After doing some experimentation with a manila folder, I decided on the dimensions of the case. It will be 10" x 6" at its base and 5" tall. This leaves 1" clearance around the base and 2" clearance around the boat.

Received the display case from Kreative Acrylics today. I'm very pleased with the end result. The dimensions worked out perfectly.

Enjoy!

Wow Steve, Your Longboat is uniquely different from the other Longboat builds on this site.  I really like the display.  Job well done.

That’s a creative and great presentation, very clever.  I might build this boat just to copy your stand...
