AMT Body Snatcher - 1:25 by Fright

Recommended Posts

While waiting for my 2.5mm sheaves to arrive for my Jenny shrimp boat, I pulled this out of storage for a quick build. I'm now about half way thru the build. Undercarriage was very plain so I spruced it up by adding some red/black lines running underneath and wired the engine. I add a small brace to the top of the alternator (?) so that it wasn't just 'floating' in air.

Body was primed and lower portion sprayed gloss black. Upper middle in Satin black and the pull up canvas in Flat black. Interior is a mix of Santa Red with a little blue and Burnt Umber for the upholstery. Floor is Flat black. The dashboard was a little tricky but came out well.

I ordered the original Munster Koach decal set on Ebay instead of using the made up decals for the "Body Snatcher". Much of the chrome parts are painted Brass like the original Barris creation used on the Koach.

ASAT - no, we're hard core Halloween buffs and I also work as a scare actor at Six Flags Over Georgia and work the Ga. RenFaire as well. 😃

We have our creepy bar downstairs to entertain company. Dark red walls with dark brown trim. A lot of Horror movie pictures, skeletal animals, lots of candelabras with a glowing fireplace!

Mark & Popeye - Yes. It is a knock off of the Munster Koach. AMT did release a true Munster Koach kit. I am using these original AMT decals that I purchased on Ebay for my kit. The decals from the knock off kit are terrible. AMT must have lost the Munsters licensing for this double car kit.

I lived in North Hollywood CA for some time and whenever I drove past the Barris shop on Riverside Dr., I would always pull over to admire the cars on display at his shop.

I'm also in the process of converting the AMT Ghostbusters Ecto 1A kit back to an original hearse. I purchased a resin female accident victim that will be lying in the back for this kit.

Thanks to everyone for the comments and for sharing some past memories. As Herman Munster would say, " Oh Goody!"

I was able to get quite a bit of work done on my Koach. Undercarriage, interior and body glued together. Radiator with hose in place. Chrome exhaust pipes glued in. Windshield attached to the body with spider web decals in each corner. The Munster Family Crest was placed on center doors. Back door panels have the gold pattern decal in place. Getting closer to finishing this kit.

OC - thank you for following along and your comments. Tomorrow I hope to add the headlights and side Koach lights to their position. I might be able to mount the rear rumble seat to the back portion of the body. Till then, Cheers!

I took a look at your Revell Black Pearl and she is an absolute beauty!!! I hope others will check out your build 😉

I've come to a finish on my AMT 1:25 The Body Snatcher (a.k.a.) Munster Koach. Just in time too. My 2.5 mm sheaves arrived so it's back to work on my Jenny shrimp boat. This kit was a break from my norm but a lot of fun to build. My wife gave me this wooden base that she had laying around so I'm going to cover it with a blood red velvet with high gloss edges. I'm looking to purchase a set of Show Pieces 1:25 scale chrome rope stanchions to add more detail. That's about it and I wish to thank everyone for dropping in and taking a look and leaving  your comments. Cheers!

Thanks to all for taking a look. A quick little build while waiting for parts on my Jenny. I hope everyone stays safe thru these unusual times!

Our pleasure.... it was a fun build. Barris did some great stuff.... what you really need now is Grandpa pulling up in Dragula.....

You stay safe as well my friend....
