Alan has what to me to me is a good alternative if you can't get hep from opticion.  But take what Jack said and give them call.  They might even be able to refer you to someone who can help

I have a set of magnifier glasses from the optician I use and they work very well for what we do.

Thats very sad news for those of us that have watched the progress of thi fantastic work. The vignettes you have shown so far have been spectacular and it seems such a shame to lose it Is there a way to space out the figures already completed to populate the diorama and still tell the story?

I'm now having to use 5X magnifiers for models which give a limited depth of field but work reasonably well and are cheap.

Very best of luck. This has been a firm favourite to watch.

Working on the scenery is a good thought. That requires more creativity and imagination and less precision so prefect while you get the new glasses and things settle down.

Besides I always find that to be great fun.

Indeed  mate  -  I was  thinking  the same,  I have that  styrene  I brought  months  a go  -  the  one that arrived  broken up,  on the next dry day  I could  get in my back yard  and  start cutting it  down  more  into  shape,  that  should be  less  hard on my  eyesight  with my  new glasses.

Good afternoon  all,    I have  spent some  time  today  giving my  build  some serious  thought,  I think  I may struggle  to  do  small scale  figure  making - so  perhaps  its time  to see  if I can sell  what I have  done so far as a work in progress   for  someone  else  to  continue it.  I  would not have  a  clue  how  much  it is  worth  or  if anyone  would  be  interested.

Sad  but  if I am  not going to  do it credit  -  perhaps its time  to  pass it on.

As a visually impaired model builder I'd advise you to not make any decisions about giving up any activity or project you enjoy. Eyes are notoriously slow to heal and adapt. I suffer from POHS (Presumed Ocular Histoplasmosis Syndrome). Essentially, I lost sight in one eye and have a multitude of permanent floaters in the other. It's like living in a permanent cloud of gnats. I've also, off and on, suffered from the migraines and the visual effects--usually attributed to stress--and I can't think of anything more stress inducing than fear that you're going blind. Yeah, I understand the feelings. For years I figured my old hobbies were off limits--until I tried. You will adapt to your new vision. If I can be a  pompous old git... the frustration you feel is in you, not your eyes. Poor vision makes things more challenging. Things may take longer than they used to. If modeling La Haye Sainte gives you joy there's no reason to stop. Just slow down, take advantage of the optical tools, glasses, visors, etc. that help and enjoy the activity of modeling. Visit your eye care specialists on a regular basis. Are you up against a deadline?

Thank you kindly  Jeff,    I know what you mean   my eyesight  has always  been one good  one  and  one  not so,  but I  far to often made the  mistake  of  being on my  laptop  for  far to long  combined  with  tv  watching   while  wearing the  wrong strength  glasses   -  straining my eyes  and causing the  ocular migraine  without my  knowing   till  those  flashing - pulsing  patterns  of coloured  shapes made them self present.

It was good  to have  the  advanced  scans  on my  eyes  for them  to  confirm  the condition,  I know  take  regular paracetamol  and  it  does help  (kind of  like  for  a  normal  headache migraine)

OC, I talked with my Ophthalmologist after my cataract surgery. The new lenses made my distant vision very good, no glasses needed. The near vision for reading and computer work required over the counter readers of a specific strength. We tinkered with that strength to figure my typical work zone. So, don't bail out of this project. You'll work something out.

It's my day of rest, mate. The past 7-8 days have been memorable, but not in any way pleasant. Three squares, a comfortable bed and a solid roof over my head and I am blessed. Oh, and a hot cup of coffee.
