Go for it, Nenad and don't worry about the boring phase.  You got what you were looking for and that is sometimes half the battle.  Have fun with the coppering.

One day trip to Apatin

SPA "JUNAKOVIC" APATIN

post-4738-0-93910600-1403015842_thumb.jpg

As idiotic commercial said: YOUR PART OF THE PANONIAN SEA!

The Spa "Junakovic" is situated at the ledge of the same-named Park-wood and 4,5km far away from the
city of Apatin (Vojvodina, Srbija). Its thermal water is from 700m deepness and reaches the temperature more than 50 C. The thermal water of the Spa "Junakovic" is the same category as the water of the Karlovy Vary Spa (Czech
Republic), Harkan (Hungary) and Lipik (Croatia).

The medical therapies involve healing rheumatism of different origins, orthopedics and neurology diseases, gynecology diseases and diseases of the respiratory tract.

Ideal for Admiral's mother (80)

Among the complex of 10 outdoor pools, 8 paths Bowling aley (Kuglana "Banja Junakovic") and 4 tennis
courts, there is also indoor therapy pool, 2 finnish saunas and gym, and guests can relax with underwater
massage or hand massage (anti- celullite massage, relax, honey and chocolate massage, foot reflex zone
massage, scrub marine spa treatment, holistic and ayurvedic massage, argan oil treatment and
limf drenage), which is involved by convinient mini, daily, weekend and 7 day packages.

Whole day poor rain, so we (Admiral and me) delivered granny, and drive 200km to home

They recommend: Oligoessenthia body sculpting, body peeling with sea algeas and Moroccan wellness.
It is worth to mention that there is a Foot-path of health across the Park-Wood "Junakovic" and the
Spa "Junakovic" is connected with nearby Apatin and Prigrevica with cycling-paths.

Hipper modern object with really bad detail hand finishing works, prepared to allow all capabilities for organizing seminars (2 auditorias for 100 persons, with AV equipment), lunches and celebrations (a restaurant with
capacity of 450 persons).

Soon the Spa "Junakovic" will have one of the greatest Spa & Wellness Centre in the region, as they said

All in all, nice trip to relax overloaded brain. Unfortunately, nothing valuable from history to be seen there. From higway through local road between small unknown villages. In Ottoman times, many armies were trying to pass there and get stuck in swamps which do not exist now. Just passed or try to pass. Nothing interesting

Yesterday I presented to Admiral and Hothead my progress with riveted plates ...

Hothead was delighted, and, as he know EVERYTHING he was full of advises how to proceed ...

Admiral forgot her likes showed to rivets and hings at water posts, and ask me, why don't I just paint hull in gold ... from understanding support and delightness to the total misunderstanding I suppose this is usual path we all walk on here...

Finally, who care ... I enjoy in making every single plate ( ok, maybe I lie a little) ... almost every ... hardly wait to reach hulk part which will start to curve plate lines ... That will be interesting challenge ., but ... patience ... first three lines near to keel, then 2.3,4 to the waterline, then middle section (as I have seen on MSW) and then ...

Her Majesty asked me can I do this faster. I answered Her with question: Do you rather like nice or fast dress ? She answered: ok,ok, don't be angry, I am just female ...

I understand Her

Obviously next stage of madness ... talking with model

;)

Hey Nenad, talking to your model is one of the prerequisites for all modelers.  When the model answers that means you and the model are in tune.   Next requisite is talking to yourself and of course also answering.  Ongoing dialog with model and self keeps the modeler sane, especially with repetitive tasks.

I do it all the time, especially when I screw up, then I call myself all kinds of bad things, like "domkop," or "you stupid idiot."

Fortunately my wife, the Admiral, is from a seafaring family and knows some about boats and ships. but she does ask very intelligent questions.  Now I hope I can answer her and not stumble and make a fool of myself  ;)

Have fun with the hundreds of copper plates and listen to some good classical uplifting music.

We are anxiously awaiting the completed coppered hull.

Cheers,

Piet, The Flying Dutchman.

Hey Piet, I just copied to phone complete Verdi's opus to listen during plating and coopering, but today I decided to dive in and clear and make in order office archive on atic (shelves are overloaded with more than 3000 archived files in relative mess. so ...) Verdi is good for that job, also.

Unexpected working day with long lasting working meeting ... little nap ... YOU CAN FINALY BRUSH YOUR DOG ... listen this: MY dog?

Evening come ... Verdi and Aida ... and some "valuable" progres. Nice time to explore diferent music you didn't listen or had not enough time to listen in your life. Me and She last year were listening: ELP, Craftwerk, JSBach, Red Army Choir, sacral Serbian music, Irish traditional, Pavaroti, Led Zeppelin albums 6 and further (with first 5 I grew up) Pink Floyd last 10 years works, different classical music autors, some old blues and soft jazz ... 80GB on hard disk and still growing collection

"just another brick in a wall" and at last some challenge: first "serious" curvature on hull forwarding to stern

Nenad:  I'm glad to see you start at the keel and work your way up to the waterline;  and It's never too early to plan where the "gore strakes"  will be (I believe it was 9 or 10 rows when I had to do the goring).  I went off of Campbell, labeled the strakes from keel upward, and circled the numbered strakes that needed to be "gored".  This method wasn't perfect, but it got me to the waterline with errors I could live with....

Great choice in plating material;  looks just like the current ship.  Now maybe if I can overcome my hurdles, we'll meet at the same point in masting... :dancetl6:

Cheers!

...  "gore strakes"  ...

New nautical term ... what is this to hell ...

Google ... Gore Strake. — A strake of plating that terminates before reaching the stern post.

A ha, now I understand. "Bricking" Her Majesty, I think a lot about this sequence, and how to make/rivet it, and decided next: finish this 3 ( maybe 4) rows near keel, then finally make proper and final waterline, and make 3-4-5 rows from waterline to the keel direction, and then, in empty space try to mark middle line, and by it make rows from bow to stern ( or vice verse, I ll see later) to fill middle section, and to assume that "gore strakes" be as far is possible from bow and stern. That is idea for now. Main idea is to avoid "gore strakes" in first couple visible lines on hull, and on bow or stern section

... Great choice in plating material;  looks just like the current ship.  ...

Bob, I cheated in material a little, because I can not find any metal foil in such a color. Considering that I do not make my model for World Championship, and that there will be mat acrylic varnish over in couple of layers, I think it can pass aesthetic exam. But, during "bricking", I have a very little doubt about right shade / hue of color ... maybe a bit of dark green to add ... there is a lot of time, and considering my new set of acrylic paints I gave for birthday, and that varnish is on acrylic base, there will be some further experiments dedicated to this question. Also, there is still unanswered question I ask myself about weathering ... (un)fortunately, considering still 2-3-4-5 000 pieces to make: draw/cut/rivet/place/glue/clean there is a loooooot of time to think about

See you around, before "masting" time ...

Yes, I do. I didn't read the whole text but at least all illustrations are copied from The Tea Clippers by George Campbell. I accept that sometimes people use an illustration from a book to make something clear but this gentleman seems to overdo it. His massive copying borders on copyright infringement if he didn't get permission to do that.

By the way, I didn't open the Facebook link. I'm too happy I got off it!

Lou, also I am not FB fan. Started willy-nilly in preparing 30 years reunion of high school class. and left now only to follow domestic modeler scene as a only net resource of information, (believe or not - there are some forums but dead couple of years) and to chat from time to time with some distant friends. FB is for youth

Uhh, Bindy, very proud and happy - when everything passed

Yesterday he turns me and Admiral directly to pre-cardiac condition and heart attack ( I am not kidding !!!!) ... EVERYTHING must be done in very last second and after that if it could be ... printing/plotting  his diploma work in10 x 3  A0 formats, instead in Friday started yesterday at 09:30 instead 08:00, instead 12:00 as they promised finished at 13:30, and his exam was scheduled to 12:20 ... he was late to his exam more than a hour, put him in the car and crazy drive to university, Admiral and Princes stayed to pick up prints when finished and catch any kind of telekinesis they can find to university after us, in university  ... ... ... ... , prints arrived at the same end of his presentation ... very unpleasant situation ... His mentor decided to wait half an hour, ...

Happily everything finished good, but ... my nerves, Admiral nerves, Princes nerves .... We all were with him from early morning until evening ...

And that is not His first time to arrange chaos

But, it is over for now, and we are all in seventh heaven

You have more patience than I amigo.  I would have pulled what little hair I have left out.  Now all you and the Admiral need is a nice bottle of wine and some soft music to ease your nerves.  Hopefully he did okay.
