Thank you everybody for likes and support. Wind in my sails

After two bussy day and "little" after-lunch-napping, made new music mix (this time Dylan, Baes, Donovan, CSNY, Melanie, Denver) and went down to play with "lettering"

From distance, look very o.k., and close up is still little frustrating. But, this panel is 22mm long, and whole model will be over 1000mm long. Think it is not such important. Game with "dotting" was pretty hard, full of very strong 3 hours lasting concentration of mind and non-shared attention to world around. Just me, magnifier, colors, needle and this pieces. And music

This time, main tool is sharped needle

Here is step by step , process ... what I wrote ... dot by dot

As it can be seen, I decided to step off C-plans and actual look and to "rise" a little this platform with letters, to "promote" it a bit in relation to other gold elements

Platform is a little more than 3mm wide, and a letters are about 2mm tall ... tricky

Only one lettering left ( rudder wheel box)

Thank you Nils. I have no problem with hands. Even opossite, if I could find sharper needle to control drops of paint better, I can do this more precise. My main problem are my eyes. Wearing glasses until I was born (for distance), faceing with need for glasses for this little works (still do not need them for job and reading books), so must work with magnifier. I use a cheap one (3x , Chinesse) and ... devil devil ... my birthday is coming close, and have some "bad thoughts" about "magnifyng" ideas for birthday present from family

I know Nenad,

the correct eyesight is very important. I remember during my early job employments a had to read many commercial  fils and specificationn, this ending sometimes in headaches in the afternoon hours. First time I became glasses for compensating (I did`nt recognise I needed them before) was with 32 years, and since then I ca`nt do without.

You are right, but ... after a few hours, emptiness of home become to much loud, if you can understand what I think and try to say with my poor English ... we ( Admiral, kids and me) are very close to each other and very attached ... Hothead is in another town on his study, Princess after work zig-zag with friends until late hours, Admiral went to mam ... happy 2-3 hours, and after ... new meaning of "sounds of silence"

I must organize little talk with myself about ... we made children to grow and to fly away, not to sit behind my paints or Admiral's ... that is only regular stage of life in it's beginning ...and I have to be happy about, not sad

So, big big smile for it :)

Very nice work my friend.

Doing very small work like that.... I used to use two pair of drug store glasses taped together. That was before my daughter gave my a pair of jewler's "flip-up" magnifiers to go on my regular glasses. Now, after two years, I can hardly work without them.

You boys are really wind in my wings ... oups ... sails

@ George - you can see my peace ... devil turns me on whole day in yard ... this and that ... that and this ... why you ... why don't you ... etc etc ;)

@Mark, I hope so. Little color corecting after mounting ...

@ Kess, thank you for your care for my poor eyes ... still in place ... I just picked up them from the floor after today work and put them in my head ;)

@ Dave, I must give Princes to read your post ... ;) Maybe it will work !!

@ Piet, thank you. Do you believe when someone of my friends look at She, they do not see 4000 pieces of "cooper plates" riveted separatly, several hundread pieces of deck strips, and also decorations on stern, so I must use my finger with "look at this point" and after that follow "wow thing" ... only by few of them ... :( ... most of them ask "when it will be finished?" and hearing my answer with prognose in years, suddenly lose any interest ...

@Denis, we discused earlier about decal option, which, by default, has to be more precise, probably with moee accurate color. All this time I had feeling that there just has to be some relief just to promote some details, and it seems it was bingo.

This evening, running away from wild Admiral ... kidding ... she works with me in yard and she is so tired, napping in front TV ... I did first "rigging" aftet almost 35 years ( rigging of Jolly Roger 15 years ago does not count)

Before mounting panels, there are some things that had to be done

First, four "eyes" under bowsprit

post-4738-0-54278700-1426965098_thumb.jpg

Somebody in earlier post remembered me not to forget rigging of them. Very clever and usefull tip. When eyes were on place, during waiting for glue and colour to harden/dry, I though about ... how to hell to approach to them after mounting panels ??? And idea comes, I put there temporary lines just to be sure that I shall be able to pull with them real lines when time comes

post-4738-0-96343000-1426965338_thumb.jpg

Attached with paper tape to fore deck temporary, not to disturb me

post-4738-0-50697100-1426965425_thumb.jpg

Next is bowsprit chain - gammoning. Just had no nerve to even try to find and wait ( if there any) from internet for chains less than 0,5mm thick, and decide to improvize. Rope was made earlier, a lot of "eyedrop" working, and applying over very thin layer of black acrylic mixed with a drop of gold acrylic, just to get a nice "metal" shine ...

post-4738-0-39192900-1426965685_thumb.jpg

I think it is OK, considering all stuff what will be mounted over and beside

Faced today with something new to me ... knots ... which are enormous large against rope thickness . And you must make knot to fix rope to eye . Or not ? Obviously I must investigate MSW and learn a lot of things before real rigging start

decals do have their limits Nenad........what would look as though it's paint,  they can be the answer.  but,  if it's raised detail and paint,  then they are useless.  color isn't really an issue.....unless they are metallic.   ink jet printing draws the line there.......it is possible to get the color,  but it lacks the shimmer.  what you've done is emphasize both of these aspects........very nice indeed!  :)

good to have the opening at the bottom of the gammoning.....you may need it.  I believe those are called bob stays.......they will pass through the Martingale and terminate at the tip of the bow spirit boom.  the Cutty has such beautiful bow rigging!   nice work!  :)

Nice country side kind of a place Nenad, bet the air is full with the smell of pet, and every now and there is the clang of a distant church bell

Not jet, Jan. In April everything explode with colors and smelts. I was born on asphalt, in Belgrade downtown, where I spent growing, learning, working first 30 years of my life. Then I got married, and as Admiral was born in this suburb of Belgrade ( 20 km from downtown) there we built our family house and move in 1993.year, and I'll never change this rural ambiance for any kind of any luxury apartment in down town. In house, flat has 120m2 living space, five rooms, and beside that attic 50 mm2, garage and heat room another 50m2, and one room in basement 20m2

and yard 700m2. Belgrade is relative small citty ( 2.000.000 inhabitants with all suburbs) and with car I need only 20-25 minutes of relaxing drive to reach downtown.

post-4738-0-23512000-1427147724_thumb.png post-4738-0-64160200-1427147740_thumb.png

Our suburb, named Umka , layed on Sava river, has over 5.000 inhabitants, almost all in private family houses with 700-1000 m2 of yard, and atmosphere and feeling living there is something relay special. Only a few people live from agriculture and keep animals, almost everybody work somewhere (local factories, near town Obrenovac or in downtown). Urban village. Nothing can compare and replace quiet spring/summer evening after hard day sitting in backyard drinking glass of red wine, chating with Admiral and kids. Main road is 600m far away near river Sava, our house is on hill, and you can hear - nothing, except birds, cats, dogs etc etc. Church can not be heard because it is on another side of hill. Therapy for nerves. And if you enjoy in working in yard when you have time - joy of life. Add to this full equipped place with installations of gas, el. current, tv, iptv, net, many shops with everything you need daily, school, nursery for little kids, small medical center, post office, bank,w cinema, pubs and restaurants ... what more do you need?

Just a practice run Nenad! Trial runs and/or practice runs are almost always messy, but never anything to be ashamed of. Redo's are a common occurrence in almost all of the builds here. :)

Hey, George !

Considering how it look right now, I think there will not be re-do. Mess is more visual because I have to remove my nice black color on some places on bow part of hull to get better adhesive with glue, and it seems pretty ugly now. I am not afraid of re-do, I practiced re-do exercises and re-do skills almost all my building, and I am sure there will be a lot of re-do and boo-boo.

Spice of hobby

Indeed... the spice must flow and it is flowing, Nenad.

Yes the spice must flow! But watch for worm sign.  Don't want anything happening to that ship!

Now that you have that bowsprit mounted you need to take care and make sure it is always clear.  I've whacked mine a couple of times while it was dry fitted!

Looking good!  I'm glad you remembered to put in those eyebolts.  good idea about running those lines through the eyes, but I think that the lines terminate to those eyebolts. You might want to check the plans.  There are also eyebolts on the sides between some of the side boards that are set up with hearts and lanyards.  They'll be a pain if you don't do them before mounting the boards (I made this mistake).  See my earlier posts a few pages back in your build where we were discussing it.

You've inspired me with those name plates on the billboards.  Very nice work!

Scary to death ...

Look at this picture and try to imagine all this in that place on that scale

And I wish just this to do !!!

Too ambitious ?
