Lift rigging preparations.

There is single tye thru one block  with purchase of 2 blocks combination.

I haclve to assembpe block thru thread before closing eyes on both sides...

as completed i plan to secure double blocks from deck first and another tye from yardarm thru block and lower mast top down and jpin bothbsides. at the end purchase will be strung and end will go to belay pin on mast  fife rail ....ag lest its plan :))

There is 4" (0.45 mm) lanyard going from yard arm, and 0.35 mm for the purchase blocks. cap block is single 5 mm and pirchase double 3 mm alssembled so  Fall will go from top of uoper block towards deck.

I need to make 4 identical for F/M masts and 2 smaller for mizzen .

thank you for watching etc.

...

good point Rob. thank you for bringing to consideration.

regarding mast stop place or nelaying pins rail place. It will be rather very small project Rob. I will rig only braces and haliards thats it.

i wont even attach empty blocks even there are evety eyes for them on tops etc.

im hard thinking how nice would be to rig at least sheets with all chains tbru yards but...it wont be rigging yards anymore but also part of sails. and there shouod be blocks then etc...

lets wait and see. well at least. if i change mind it is always time to add more.

thank for fine comment indeed.

V.

I know, it is a big decision.  Because it can get very tedious...to try to cram so much rigging in and along the yards.  Then transfer that detail down the mast to so many belay points.

I'm so glad I decided to NOT include any stunsail boom rigging....  In my scale it would have required silk thread to achieve the scale rope required for this level of scaled rigging.....not to mention the problem of finding places to belay the lines.  I did COMPLETELY rig her...with yard, and sail control.

Everyone's miles may very.

Rob , I truly admire your skill and such clean outcome from that scale and i say honestly its something im not up to atm. this is probably smallest scale im able to work at. I can say with haliard and braces it will still be plenty. and I must say I am not that experienced to rig her at this point completely l, well nit telling i wouldnt try now with your and underhill backbone :) but that big task, and more,  would require another lond time and tremendous amount if material ropes blocks etc....which i dont want to dive into....i have already different boats in mind and i want to get glory nice pedestal, flags, still aft booms to be made etc...and im only diving deep quite shocked how much would have to be done...or speaking of stunsails or those booms. nope, I ditched it myself too. i will be happy to rig downlifts, haliards and braces , so yards could stay properly.similar fashion as cutty sark is rigged todays. I dojty like sheet lines without sails I see no point in doing that.

hope it makes sense.V.

apology for hijacking own thread for some different stuff, i need little pause from glory...

i learn to be patient so training carving...i must say even these poor egyptienne rehearsals and simple foliage is aaargh. i tried to clean corner more and slowed down .. and im waiting to get 1.5 mm chisel. its  painfully slow. boxwood is godsend fof sure. i simplified acanthus as im not up to it and besides original is 1:36 carved this is 1:48. smaller.

every mistake of shavinv wood against grain is gravely dearly  punished.

working under magnifier.

Ouch!  What a painful experience Vlad.  Truly gut wrenching.

The closest I ever got to sucha disaster, was when I ran a skysail bunt line down the mast, through  the maze of other lines only to find I was horribly twisted and entangled with several other lines.  But this........Yikes.  I

I hope you recover both mentally and constructionaly soon.

Yeah tell me bout it. probably constructionally sooner than mIMG_20230214_151557.thumb.jpg.d3788ef01298ca6558718765a74311d0.jpgIMG_20230214_151604.thumb.jpg.46106cdeb1811a3b4fda78616a2af02c.jpgentally . traces of disaster everywhere, she looks like frigate after battle now.

i already bave i plan and if that works i will be spared of all work again.

i will attempt to drive strong straight wedge in both masts to join it and strenghten tipgallant top with collar. fingers crossed. it that works i could move all rope eyes where before just lanyards for backstays will be cut off and redo....

fingers crossed Rob.

there is some bad omen with this ship :) or ptobably with my clumsiness :///.

with halyards its already way too many ropes there. not able to understands how on earth you did buntlines in 1:96.

Youre so sweet guys,

speaking of, mast is up. damage is extensive indeed but most important is thwy mast is secure and straight. i run copper wedge thru both so i didnt damage ladders and stuff only one collar to be made.i had to literally cut off all bacsktays lanyards up from topmast but that is easy peasy work. now i will continue halyards first with yards and securing and tying up  backstays up high ....this occurence scared me a lot and reminded me that little not paying aytention can pay dearly. just touched lanyards and whoaaaa.

so back to main mast repair slowly. i hppe i will tie ropes even better and nicer than previous  ones.

better not to drive holes next ropes or ...very catefully next time....

mast up....im nit sure how i proceed with fairlead for halyard but its just what it is now...:( there is copper wedge inside :))

Ouch indeed Vlad, but it looks like you're well on the path of recovery.

I think this might be a 'right of passage' for builders.  I can't remember how many jib-booms I had to replace on my Endeavour.

cheers

Halliards & spreaders, finish of standing rigging

First off I want to thank everyone for supporting and encouraging words after almost losing mast. i promised myself to keep this log honest ni matter whwt happens.

having confidence shaken, I wont replace already made spreaders , even there are no hooks on th. i decided to tie stays simply to them with tiny fishing wire. by the way I used those for haliards as well.

this part of rigging is becoming patience proof. three types of tweezers were my best friends. literally. moving to haliards.

Every rope should be high level of organisation - multiplied. as i move further, I srart undersranding how tough must be buntlines rigging etc. I decided I will finally go for sheets rig but only sheets with chains as its on yards without sails. its long journey ahead as I will need to assble new set of blocks and next chapter will be spanker  & co

whicj i need to make so i will pause posting for a while.

To work done  - basically. if i understood underhill haliards correctly, most impoortant

is that they dont cross backstays but run paralel to them . just under them. thry go from imside part of spreaders while stays go from outside. Lanyard oj purchases should not be twisted...that was most effort. it went very slowly because of difficulty assembling eyes on blocks thru which lanyards should go freely....thats bqsically all fof this cjapter and episode. wjem all finished its still much place in boat. even there is spider net of lines already.

i will leave photos speak themself despite of few errors sharp eye wont miss.

personally im happy i left spreaders there, after accident im far more scarier with moving around her. one more thing.

i plan cleaning footropes next. some unglued due past work so i didnt correct that im looking forward to next chapter that will be making spanker booms  spencers, running sheets & braces preparations etc. itll take few months i guess.

enough talking. thank you for viewing and coements etc...

V.

Vladimir,

I'm sorry to hear about your recent mishap, but I'm happy to see you already recover! This strokes can be really tedious, but you tackle it very well, and now she seems to better than before!
I'm really impress by your model overall and by the rigging and the metal work.
You are showing great determination and skills, and they are paying off!

Thanks much. i think critical phase is over, your cutty reefing details and complete rig and all stuff pushes me to go on as well :)

as this is my first rigging, trying to learn from mistakes for sure.
