Hello there. You do some very nice work. I have been following your build and viewed your Golden Hind build log. It has inspire me to build my own GH in 1/35 scale based on cross ref to an older 1/72 scale GH Airfix plastic model I have.

Since I have no diagrams of the GH to go off I have used my 1/72 hull to draw measurements from but lack angles such as the slope on the various decks and the angles off 90’ of the various masts. I also have a question as to the length/ height of the masts and their yard arms. If you are able the help me in those regards I would greatly thank you. Please view my scratch build posts of the GH on the forum.

Thank you and again …great work.

Jim

Fore castle update

The general shape is ready, my own free interpretation. In the open parts on the middle deck shields still have to come

Lovely photos and progress, Patrick. What is that smaller model in the last image?

Thanks.

Ice fishing looks like fun. I've never been. I'm definitely a dog person as I'm allergic to cats. My dogs aren't pulling a sleigh though. I work for them. 😁

That forecastle.....marvelous. Now she looks like a carrack. Beautiful work...as always.

Patrick,

As always brilliant work. A pleasure following your work.
That said, Northern Lights awesome indeed. I had the luck of seeing them as well when I was working. But no fresh fish were offered for our meals during those drives. 🤪

Hi Patrick,

An Arctic Char would be very very good - do you ever catch them?

On ship matters, the interior of the forecastle is fascinating, I suppose they were never really empty on a ship of war - but it's almost a very modern piece of architecture.

I love watching your work, Patrick. That forecastle is looking magnificent. And very believable as a practical piece of 'equipment'.

Looking forward to your shields. As someone who's used shields in re-enactment combat and made quite a study of them, if you want any help with their historical accuracy, feel free to ask.

Thanks Steven

These shields are more like panels, only the upper deck of the rear castle should have shields. But it will take a while before I get there.

And some may be disappointed, but there is no room for toilet facilities at the front.

Little progress.
Since I retired a year earlier than planned, I am building faster than the research I had already done.
In the meantime, more is happening on the Corel yacht kit model
Only extra holes have been made in accordance with the rear castle.

And after measuring with the laser, the entire fore castle appeared to be a bit crooked in relation to the hull.
This has now been corrected. If I didn't tell anyone, no one would have noticed... 😇

Patrick: I'm sure that the builders of Mary Rose didn't have access to laser levels and probably the forecastle was a bit 'off'. You may have had it right the first time!

Be sure to sign up for an epic Nelson/Trafalgar project if you would like to see it made into a TV series  http://trafalgar.tv

It was a bit too much.
We would all get seasick looking at the result 🤢
