Thanks Alistair,just had a week off so got something done after food poisoning.Thanks Greg this is the second time I've had the anchor rope holes through the stem nowhere near lining up from inside the hull to outside.Where would you drill the holes to go into the hold? Thanks Slog and Doug it looks better from a distance just looking at colours from other builds and the replica.

I kinda went strait off the AOTS if you have a look at my log. I've also got Parkinson's reference if you want me to PM a photo? It's different.

The only other reference I've found via my books and Ray Parkin's book is they drop strait into the first companionway forward. As such, pointless PM'ing the photo. The AL instructions just have you drill a couple of holes in the deck. You've done such a fantastic job on yours it will take a rebuild of the cabinet work. Maybe Marquardt made it up?

it figures that a kit would throw you a curve ball like that. I've had the same thing happen to me....some I left, some I didn't. such a nice job on the decking and structures.....looks really sweet!

Look'n good Ron.... what kind of wood did you use on the natural looking planking ? It looks real nice.( as the rest of the planking too!!)

Thanks Popeye hope it keeps going o.k.Thanks Frank the natural planking is just limewood with a light yellow stain and sapelli below the wale similar to mahogany with dull cote brushed on.I like the sapelli looks nice.

My build of the hull(Corel Kit) is a bit different, but in the end the 2nd planking is what shows up.

just onto the top side planking and wales next.

Hi Ron, I just found your log and the ship is looking beautiful.  Did you carve the stern figures?

Thanks for your comments,the stern female figures are brass cast supplied in the occre kit.The stern decoration is stamped onto thin brass supplied as well.

Thanks!  Next question, how did you get it to look like its carved out of wood?   How much work did you have to do before you painted it?  I've never been able to make the castings that come with kits look like anything but castings.

Hi,all I did was paint it no special preparation,it's matt ochre an admiralty paints colour.

Covers done the instructions were saying to mount them on 2mm wood but I think they look better flush as the replica is.Maybe leave the hinges etc brass or paint them black not sure yet.
