Symphony by Omega1234 - FINISHED - 1/200 scale - 112' Ketch

Recommended Posts

Hi Piet

Many thanks!  I totally understand how busy you must be with the Surabaya.  What with three masts and all that rigging ahead of you, it mustn't be easy.  On the other hand, if you ever get bored, you could surely sneak a little miniature in there somewhere... ;)

Cheers

Patrick

Hi everyone!

Well, I'm almost at the finished line.  Symphony now has her rudder installed, as well as her auxiliary propeller (which still needs painting).  But, most importantly, I've been working on her display stand.  There's still more work to be done on the final design of the supporting struts to make them as unobtrusive as possible; so as to give the impression of Symphony 'floating' above the display board.  I'll do the same with her tender as well.

Hope you enjoy the photos.

Cheers

Patrick

Hi Igor

Many thanks! The zodiac was far easier than you'd think. Here's how - Beneath the waterline was a shallow v shaped hull onto which I glued plastic rods to simulate the rigid inflatable sides of the hull. From there, I added the centre console and seat with the radar supports above the outboard motor at the rear.

Hope this helps!

Cheers

Patrick

Here's how - Beneath the waterline was a shallow v shaped hull onto which I glued plastic rods to simulate the rigid, but round inflatable sides of the hull. From there, I added the centre console and seat with the radar supports above the outboard motor at the rear.

Thank you Patrick!

I think that at least for two of my prospective future projects I will need to make the zodiacs.

Best Regards!

Hi Patrick!

I am not sure that it will be soon, because I have now the three projects in progress that I need to finish - ATLANTIC, RS 1 and LENA.

But I collect materials for the building of two ships - Sir Winston Churchill and USCGC SWEETBRIER (WLB-405).

Best Regards!

Igor.

Hi Igor

The Coast Guard cutter looks like she'd be a fun build, that's for sure. I also checked on the Winston Churchill and loved the look of that one. In many ways, she's very similar to the Atlantic. I'm not sure if you've come across this site, but it may be of some help - http://www.jocham-schiffe.de/html/start.html

Cheers and all the best

Patrick

"Sweetbrier, a 180-foot Iris or C-class tender, was built in Duluth Minnesota by the Marine Iron and Shipbuilding Company. Her keel was laid on 3 November 1943 and she was launched on 30 December 1943"

Thank you Patrick!

On spring I have contacted with Bernd Jocham and bought this set of drawings of "Sir Winston Churchill"

HI Mark

Thanks for your comments, which are greatly appreciated. The zodiac was great fun to build and  it added a nice touch to the ship.  I must admit I didn't even know how to actually build it, but, after a bit of thought, it turned out to be surprisingly easier than I envisaged.

All the best!

Patrick

Hi everyone

Guess what?  Symphony's completed (well, about as completed as it can be at the moment-there's still some minor things to do, but I'm too eager to get started on my next boat, so I'll leave them for another day).

I'd like to thank all of you for your comments, compliments and Likes.  I can't tell you how much they mean to me.

So, simply put, many thanks.

Here are the latest photos.

Cheers and thanks

Patrick
