Its so nice to see you get it wrong sometimes. Makes me feel that i am part of the club. i have a  rope maker from Vanda lay that i have never used. If i do decide to install the gigging on the Thorn i will attempt to make some sized rope rather than just buying already size rope. As always your model is a work of art.  

Thanks for picking that up. I have corrected it and will use treenails to fill the holes.

An actual horseshoe clamp taken from the wreck of the HMS Janus. She sank in 1800 off Trinidad. This was given to me earlier this year by a commercial diver Robert Stauble who knew of my interest in out marine history. Notice how rough the casting is. Makes one wonder if it ws recessed or just bolted flat against the keel and the hull. Its 33 1/4“ wide, 22” high, the width of the cast is 3 1/2” and its 3/4” thick. The holes are 1 1/2” wide and there are 7 holes to take the bronze pins.
 

Just completed the termite fluid and when dry will apply 2 coats of wipe on poly satin finish. Then to complete all the hull fittings and of course adding the rudder.

You can never have enough treenails.

I relocated the lights on the work bench. They were too far back and did not light up the front of the model. The bench is now perfectly lit.

I would darken the treenails on the wale.

You have been given a lot of great advice Mango. I have just completed a series of 10 videos that you might find useful if you have the time.  They run about 20 minutes each. I have just completed  planking a swan class ship .

 This is the first one  in the series.

In the morning light some missing treenails.

2120 installed so far.

I have a Cameron  drill press which is the best in class. I got it years ago from Charley files who developed and sold the Preac table saw. Its the second most used tool in my shop after the Byrnes table saw. I also have a beautiful XY vice.  It is expensive.

Not sure if it can be done now that you have rigged the ship. But the material of choice is Silk span. Here is my video on it

Strange you should ask. It was only yesterday i found some in the supermarket and purchased three packs. I am now experimenting with them. 

I do not find they quarter very well. Is there a special technique or blade to get it to strip all the way down? 

Well, look what i found in the duper market this morning.

This round of treenails is actually 6840. Just to be correct.
