    You can add the tag for the name of the boat and the manufacture by clicking on the "+Add Tag" button located under your build log title. This will open up another window. Add the tags you want and be sure to hit the save button. The moderators monitor the tags and will add them to a build log if missing. I look forward to following your build.

    Lynn, Go to your build log and copy the web address of your build log. Then go to your profile and in your signature area, highlight the name of your model and go to the link icon (looks like a chain link, see Michael's post #14 above). This will open up another window where you will paste the web address of your build log. After pasting the web address, hit save. Your model name will be underlined in your signature showing that the link is active. You can highlight the model name and select the font color you want. I added your model link for you as I wanted to give you the correct steps. It has been a long time since I have added a model to my signature.

    Cal, I am sorry to hear of the problems you had with Freetime Hobbies with your international order. There was definitely a communication problem from them regarding your order. Several members of my ship modeling Club build plastic models and they deal with Freetime and I have never heard of any problems ordering from them. They are a supporter of the IPMS and they were a vendor at an IPMS National Convention in Virginia several years ago. I am glad that you got your funds back from them and were able to find another source for your upgrade kit. I hope you start a build log on your Mikasa when you start building it because it is one of my favorite ships of that era.

If you are completely new to wooden ship model building, you may want to consider a beginner kit such as the Lowell Grand Banks Dory from Model Shipways. You can even get this kit with all of the tool and supplies that you will need to build this model.     Congratulations Iraymo on finishing your dory. You did a good job on this model and you overcame a lot of challenges. This may be a male dominated hobby, bit there are some fantastic female builders current and past whose works are masterpieces. In fact, Toni Levine, who is an accomplished ship modeler, is the current chairperson of the Nautical Research Guild. She has several builds on MSW and she is currently designing and building the capstan model that you can obtain from the NRG store. I look forward to following your future builds. You will do great in this hobby. I edited your title to show that your model is finished. This can be done by editing your first post.

I have learned a lot from the members of my ship model club and they are always willing to help me. I do hope you start a build log on whatever model you decide to build.

    I am sorry to hear about the loss of your father, Many of my tools and books and even a ship model kit were obtained from the estate of ship modelers whose items were donated to our Club to be auctioned off to members. My family knows that when I pass on, they are to donate my ship model supplies, books and kits to my Club to be auctioned off. It will give me great satisfaction to know that my items will be in the hands of ship modelers.

    Good fix. Once the interior is filled with risers and thwarts and painted, you will not see the repair.

    Looks like it can be fixed with some glue and clamps. Just glue the broken piece back on and once dried, place wood glue between the frame and the plank and clamp until the glue is dry. Be sure to place a scrap of wood between the plank and the clamp so that the clamp does not leave an impression in the plank. You can get good clamps at a very reasonable price from Harbor Freight. You can never have too many clamps. Your model looks good. Do not be too hard on yourself as this model is a learning experience for you.

    Hello Jeff and welcome to Model Ship World. Thank you for your service and enjoy your retirement. You have the oldest ship model club in the US that meets in your area, the Washington Ship Model Society. The members turn out some nice models and they are always participating in shows and events in the DC area. Also, check out the US Naval Academy museum in Annapolis that houses the Rogers Collection of ship models. It is one of my favorite areas to visit.
