    Congratulations. However Mark is correct in that a hacksaw blade will last a lot longer. Use a cutoff wheel to get most of the shape then a set of diamond files to finsh and you are ready to go. David B

    You are doing a great job. However You should take a look at the two planks at the stern near the stern and counter. The bends are a little pronounced. If you can take care of it now it will save you some grief later. David B

    Peter Baker R.I.P a noted miniaturist showed me how he made his blocks at Manitowoc years ago. Basically he would take a strip of boxwood and cut it into a strip a little larger then the block. He would then shape it and drill a hole with a #80 drill bit. He would then remove the block and finish it. David B

    Good job. Most people would not have tapered the keel because of the difficulty and few would notice it when done. David B

    Dan you have to take in the actual size of the vessel many people forget this until they trial fit the part. Your model iscoming along great. David B

    Use a piece of tape mark on it the distance between the top and bottom step. Divide it by the number of steps then just mark eachstep on the tape. Put it on the model and use that for your tempkate

    One of the ways I flatten wire is once anealed I would use a small hammer and a steel plate o small anvil. David B

    If this is being done by hand and you are having problems with a blade and straight edge sandwich the brass between two thin sheets of wood with contact cement. then using a fine tooth razor saw exacto, Zona etc and place it against a straight edge and you will get a decent cut. Use some mkineral speirits or acetone to remove the wood and you are done. David B

    It is a steel plate with different sized holes for measuring drill bits. David B

    Try running it through a drill gauge this might do the job. David B
