  1. I’ve been really busy the last few weeks and thus have only been able to sneak in a few minutes here and there. Yet, I’m almost done. I have the base coating done and most of the decals have been applied. I still have some detail work to do. But, here it is:
  2. I got most of the interior done last night. I still have some minor detail work to do. I also have about 70% of the heavy assembly done. My P-61 now looks like a plane. I spent quite a bit of time filling and blending in the seams. I’m going to try and finish the interior this weekend, so I can close it up, along with finishing the rest of the assembly. Hopefully, I’ll get a coat or two of paint on the model this weekend.
  3. Thank you for the tips on the weights. I’ll have to be careful on the balancing. I only got a little more done over the weekend. I dry brushed most of the interior an olive drab.
  4. One gun turret. I’ll paint the interior tomorrow, after all glue cures.
  5. That would have been cool to meet the family of one of the engineers.
  6. Quick side project. I love the old P-61. It’s one of my favorite planes. I ran across this kit for a price that I couldn’t pass up.
  7. That’s going to be one of my upcoming projects (eventually). I bought the Anatomy of the Ship for the Yamato. I’d like to build in 1:150 or 1:200 scale.
  8. They look like back stays to me. There should be a set on each side. The halyards would be on the running rigging diagram.
  9. I have two prototypes. Next, they will get pounce wheeled to simulate the nail heads on the strapping. Eyebolts will then be installed. I will be using model railroad HO scale eyebolts from Tichy. I have 200 of them. Then I will paint the underside red and the top black prior to installing them. They will be fixed in place with steel pins to prevent breakage.
  10. Thank you, I hope you do pick back up on your build. I have been enjoying mine. I will admit that the coppering was a bit tedious, but well worth it. 😀
  11. I’ve got 98 gunport lids assembled and squared off. I only need 96, but I figured that making a couple extra wouldn’t hurt anything. I also started cutting out the strapping. So far good. I’ve cut 18 out so far.
  12. I have also printed out the gunport lid strapping on cardstock. I scanned the picture from Wolfram zu Monfeld’s Historic Ship Models. I resized it to scale and then duplicated it 250 times. This gives me a few extras. Cardstock is the right thickness, is easy to work with and is going to get painted anyways. I’ll let y’all know how it turns out. 😀
