  1. I don't suggest anything, as it is your build, and you should be happy with the way it looks. I'm not here to guide you into building "my" version. I just enjoy the ride, and ask silly questions out of curiosity Carl
  2. Maybe I wasn't clear enough I did not mean the copper, Messis, but the paint above it. The blinking copper is much nicer when it ages over time
  3. Thanks for the information Dick. That wouldn't be a slim piece of wood for a covering plank, but a sturdy one, which certainly wouldn't twist easily. Maybe hatch covers were a mere tarpaulin ... Nevertheless it remains speculation which ever way you choose. Fortunately we can exclude plastic, and sheet metal
  4. Very nice "how to" in images. I tend to forget to take photgraphs, I end up with a half completed (if I even manage that) "how to"
  5. Especially for Sam (so he finally starts working on his own build) ... movement registered at the yard ... Couldn't get the halves nice and flush, so I'll be filling and sanding a bit
  6. It must be hard to put a child to the side and start thinking about the next ... ON the other hand, there is a new challenge to be found which should be exciting!. GReat result on your latest mini build, Patrick. You keep on improving yourself, even when I think you have reached the limit, you still find a way to move it another step.
  7. I knew, as it's the same on the other side of the pond (Northern hemisphere) But what about the southern, where Greg resides???
  8. a true eyecatcher, Mark. The stand turned out even better than I expected
  9. Don't think, now it is way past my bed time, you can scare me!! You have to get up real early to do that
  10. That's good, Jack. There should be a certain danger to be taken into account. Fits the hobby too
  11. Dick, Just wondering, couldn't the hatch's cover be made out of multiple single planks, instead of those larger cumbersome hatches?
  12. Jack, Now you have spoiled his conviction in the existence of the drop bears. However, there is a Killer Kangaroo species! So they should take care downunder
  13. Patrick, good to see you around again. Thanks for the thumbs up it really helps. You didn't click the link in post #302 ... SMS Seydlitz is coming up. Can't let Greg be a liar now can I. He has enough to deal with avoiding all those dropping bears
  14. Gawd, you still have that weird Aussie accent, and smeared your body with vegemite, Bruce? Sorry: Greg. I thought by now you had outgrown your childhood fears
  15. Yes mate, you only have puppies, that's a breeze to handle, like a walk in the park
  16. All ye visitors, thanks for the likes and the comments Piet good to see you browsing the forum ... my next build ... difficult question Jo, Yes, I have seen that one before and have thought about it. Not overly expensive, and it might just appear in my stash without me knowing it myself. However, I have a shared build waiting for me. The PE is in, as is the kit. I have a fierce co builder. He finished the build some time ago, and it seems I'm dragging my feet. We shall see ... So today I will paint the rudder, and varnish the hull. Furtermore, I found the missing piece: A search light. North Star models sent the wrong PE for the light I ordered. Several months later I am still waiting for their response. If I can find another supplier for certain items it will have been their last sale to me. So the next build ... watch for a post after this one (I hope soon )
  17. At least you thought about CO2 compensation . Plants add a nice personal touch, mate. Another winner!
