  1. Nice going paddy, I see the owner likes reproductions ... no matter, would be a sin to keep them in such small spaces anyway
  2. Thanks for the likes gents, as always much appreciated Me thinks you need to get some spectacles, mate ... there is enough room for improvement on that wobbly line, an' please don't gimme that crap about being my worst critic ... on the other hand, most ironbuilds are fitted with the PE railings (but for RGL's) and those do look really artificial
  3. Nah, fat chance. You wanted to be treated like one of the boys ... I painted the camouflage by hand, Lifecolor isn't really airbrush friendly paint, everything below the camouflage is painted with an airbrush. Good to be back, although it will be at intervals
  4. So what you two say: A dime is worthless ... Well lads, gimme a couple a milion of them and I'll be fine Mark for size ... it doesn't mean a lot ... to me at least
  5. Finally I can get to it again ... finished the railing ... added flag thingies at stern and bow, added aft superstructure tripod, need some more painting, rigging from forrard to aft, ship's nr, screws and rudder ... nearly their (RGL Seydlitz is nearing) Pictures could be (lots) better Cheers boys 'n girls
  6. I'll better refrain from clogging this log up ... By the way, any steps made ...
  7. Started without me Gawd a shaggin ship instead of a wagon! You could prime the hull, scribe your plates, add the lowerdeck, and if required add another thin layer of primer ... Why should you add the deck before priming anyways...?
  8. thinks: Isn't there one already? Cardboard ... ? Well if you don't tell we won't either, Steven. Actually I was thinking about rust too, untill you mentioned the "She being brand new ..." bit (there is a poem about that one, maybe you can adjust it to a ship ...) It turned out very good, lots of hamering included I expect.
  9. I really, really, really love the weathering you have done, especially the bottom of the deck, and the rudder and it's vicinity. Interesting saws, where did you find those Tried them out yet?
  10. Funny all those experts ...
  11. Whimp You can CA after you've made the scarf joint. Thin CA is pulled inbetween the parts Suggestions: Obsolete holes If you need to fill the holes, take an oversized styrene solid rod, taper the end sanding it, glue it in, and cut it of level with the deck. gollup of paint ... done Missing holes If you need to add stanchions where you can't reach, take off the bottom part of the stanchion (which goes into the deck) make and shape your railing, assertaining the cut off stanchions are in the spot where you can't drill, form the railing and have that part slightly lowered so when you mount the railing the stanchions are push up. You can than glue them to the deck ...
  12. DAn, When I look at the picture, they are all crooked, so I wouldn't worry to much. You are recreating reality ... looks good, like the mesh
  13. Even if I tape the planks, there still are splinters round the holes I drill. Very nice work on those railings
  14. Still tricky, but since I do not have a physical view of the kit, I can't advise. It seems to me a good aproach
  15. I really enjoyed following your build from a quiet corner upto the start of your pilot house ... you really make that shine, such marvelous details you added ... very well done!
  16. Something like The French Chaloupe Armée en Guerre from the Delacroix drawings. There are some good examples in the scratch build forum
