  1. Interesting methode of joining the hull sections Ken, aswell as closing the gap afterwards.... Nils
  2. wonderful and beautiful work Patrick, thanks for sharing all the pics of your build sequences, a real treat that is..... Nils
  3. Thanks for looking in Johann, you`re very welcome all time... Nils
  4. Many thanks Dan, correct with the three but joints (short planks, between the gratings), reason is that the deck was already planked when I cut the openings...., But your coment is much appreciated and good for the other deck plankings to be aware of ....... Nils
  5. Thank you Patrick, only small steps in the moment, but I`m quite pleased with the progress so far... Nils
  6. Thanks very much Keith, am pleased you like the spindle fastening points.... the stb. floor half is now permanently planked and mounted. The pine-planks are 3 x 100 mm long and 0,7 mm thick. The three square outcuts take up the gratings to the bilge. The overstanding outside edges of the floor will be trimmed off when the hull gets faired for planking... Nils the three gratings, per side, for access to the bilge the glue is applied from underneath, once the floor half is correctly positioned
  7. beautiful work Bob, and black and gold matches wonderful Nils
  8. update... cutting out the floor halves from 0,8 mm ply for the cargo hold bottom (still to be planked...), and attatching the brass M4 thread-plates under the floor for the stand`s two spindles..., also checking out the deck-supporting pillars midships... Nils card template halves... will do... the threaded brass fastening plates are enbedded safely between supporting lugs... dry fit of pillars, the floor halves can be slipped in through the frame deck-beams... here one wooden floor half (with overlapping) braces in dry fit
  9. Very nice progress Dan, a delight to see how you do it at that small scale... Nils
  10. Many roads lead to Rome,.... you`ve shown us one..., Kees , Very interesting methode, and it seems to be quite a speedy one, well done ! Nils
  11. Hi John, I`m pleased you like the build so far, and thanks for your words, much appreciated... NIls
  12. Welcome Heinrich, nice to see you here, enjoy your stay and have a pleasant time.... Nils
  13. Many thanks Antony, the rather thin deckbeams will be supported (strength) from below with turned wooden pillars. This way I have the option to place 35 mm high figures standing upright, crates, barrels, etc., below the deck. Now I will have to deal with the positioning and anchoring of the two M4 stand spindles below the cargo hold floor, and cut the two half hold floor parts from 0,8 mm ply and plank them. The port side of the outer hull shall remain partially open, in order to give view into the ship... Nils
  14. thank you very much Patrick, I also liked the shape and lines of these chebec hulls very much, and I find the enlarged Amati hull was a nice one to base and modify the design on... Nils
  15. Update... put some more stringers on, mounted the fancy support brackets for the high poop-deck grating, and am shaping the card template halves for making the cargo hold floor. I think I need`nt remove the deck beams for doing so, the card templates and later the thin planked ply floor halves can easily be slipped in through the frames from above.... Nils
  16. Hello Kees, thank you so much for your compliment and your nice words. Yes, I`m very pleased with the model, its been my most ambitious one to date and there were many for me new techniques involved.... Nils
  17. Hi Martin, the breastwork looks lovely, I like it very much... Nils
  18. Thank you very much Bob, I`m quite pleased with the way the holding and positioning fixture worked out, and the meanwhile arrived red-cedar planks look great for color and grain..... Im the moment I`m involved in repairing our wooden equipment shed in the garden. It needs new roof parts and all gutters and rain drainpipes. As always, the more old wood I remove for replacement, the more rotten surprizes become visable. But I think I have the right concept now. I`ve been at it 3 days now and guess it will take the weekend as well to get things managed and the repair done. Nils
  19. Update... today framework removed from positioning jig, started fastening some of the stringers, quite fragile construction in the moment no fractures so far... Am thinking of leaving a part of the port side hull open for a look beneath the deck...., beneath the wales Nils The frames are straking very nice...
  20. Hi Patrick, thanks for your words, the working on... is only a few hours per day, if no other things have priority...., so nice and steady modeling.. Nils
  21. Very nice work Bob, that binacle cabinet looks great ! Nils
