Hi Bruce, if you need any visual help I am also building this kit on my YouTube channel.
It’s not an easy kit, Peter is doing a great job!

Ciao Guys,
I'm thrilled to share with you the completion of my latest project, a scratch-built RC model of the FIFIE, a traditional herring drifter from Scotland.
Embarking on this journey, my primary goal was to seamlessly incorporate all the intricate details of a static model into a functional RC vessel.
As you peruse the images I've attached, you'll notice the clean and crisp design that I've strived to maintain throughout the build. However, keen-eyed observers may spot a couple of missing elements, namely the lifeboat and the pump.
A lifeboat is nearing completion and will soon find its rightful place aboard the vessel, adding that extra touch of authenticity. As for the pump, it's still in the works. I'll let inspiration guide me in the coming days – after all, a bit of inspiration goes a long way in elevating the quality of our creations, wouldn't you agree? 😃
I invite you to share your thoughts and suggestions as I continue refining this labor of love. Let's keep the winds of creativity blowing and the waves of craftsmanship rolling!
Fair winds and following seas,
Carlo

Hi all. I decided to install an autonomous pump in the Fifie.
I didn't want to risk to loose all those precious hours of work, so I thought I could invest some time on this. I programmed an arduino system that activates a pump whenever it detects water inside.
I leave you the video with all the details below

Carlo - you are probably right but being a wuss, probably wouldn't with the deck material being less then ..060" thick (many Americans don't fully understand metric measurement!). Then, my single history with Sikaflex sealant is that I ended up with about as much on me as my caravan's window replacement job. I have enjoyed that scratch FIFIE build and hope my R/C kit turns out decent even with the MDF bulkheads.
Did you already open a topic on your build? I would love to follow your work

Good morning all,
I want to share with you an alternative nice way for caulking the deck of your model ship. I used this technique for the Fifie as you can read by the thread title, but I think the best use case would be for modern era Yacht or similar. I chose this technique because this type of sealant (used in real ships) helps sealing the whole deck as this is an RC model. Precautions is never enough eheh 😁...
In any case, I hope it will be useful for people out there building big scale yachts, modern ship or just want to try a new technique ⛵

Hi @bobandlucy! Maybe it could be useful for the future to use this simple technique to help you out with the alignment of the deadeyes

Great work, especially with the sculptures. I know some modellers use sculpey to make them instead of wood.

Thank you Patrick and Ken 😃

I would also suggest the Fifie by Amati models. Easy straight forward planking. I loved building it
